Journal ArticleDOI

Development of O-serogroup specific PCR assay for detection and identification of Vibrio parahaemolyticus.

TL;DR: A PCR assay based on O-serogroup specific genes was developed and shown to be highly specific and reproducible, suitable for rapid detection and identification of V. parahaemolyticus pathogens from clinical and environmental samples, with the potential for application in epidemiologic investigations and other food safety applications.
Journal ArticleDOI

Complete Genome Sequence of Lactobacillus helveticus H10

TL;DR: The whole genome of strain H10 was sequenced and it was compared to the published genome sequence of Lactobacillus helveticus DPC4571 to show correspondence between the two strains.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structure of the Shigella dysenteriae 7 O antigen gene cluster and identification of its antigen specific genes.

TL;DR: The Escherichia coli O121 O antigen, which is present in an important Shiga toxin-producing strain, has the same structure as that of S. coli O7, and it was found that the gene clusters also had the same genes and organization.
Journal ArticleDOI

DNA Microarray-Based Identification of Serogroups and Virulence Gene Patterns of Escherichia coli Isolates Associated with Porcine Postweaning Diarrhea and Edema Disease

TL;DR: A DNA microarray based on the O-antigen-specific genes of all 8 E. coli serogroups, as well as 11 genes encoding adhesion factors and exotoxins associated with PWD and ED, was developed and shown to be highly specific with reproducible results.
Journal ArticleDOI

Expression of the O antigen gene cluster is regulated by RfaH through the JUMPstart sequence

TL;DR: RfaH enhances expression of the 18-kb O antigen gene cluster, with promoter-distal genes affected more dramatically, and it was shown that the JUMPstart sequence was required for RfaH function.
