pO157_Sal, a Novel Conjugative Plasmid Detected in Outbreak Isolates of Escherichia coli O157:H7
Ping Wang,Yanwen Xiong,Ruiting Lan,Changyun Ye,Hua Wang,Jun Ren,Huaiqi Jing,Yiting Wang,Zhemin Zhou,Zhigang Cui,Hongqing Zhao,Yuli Chen,Dong Jin,Xuemei Bai,Ailan Zhao,Yan Wang,Shaomin Zhang,Hui Sun,Juan Li,Tao Wang,Lei Wang,Jianguo Xu +21 more
TL;DR: A novel 38-kb conjugative plasmid, pO157_Sal, was identified and sequenced from an Escherichia coli O157:H7 outbreak-associated Chinese isolate that shares high similarity with a plasmids in Salmonella enterica serovar Agona.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of the Escherichia coli O59 and O155 O-antigen gene clusters: The atypical wzx genes are evolutionary related
TL;DR: Comparison of the region between gnd and hisI revealed that the wzx and acetyltransferase genes are closely related between E. coli O59 and O155, indicating that the two gene clusters arose recently from a common ancestor.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural and genetic characterization of the closely related O-antigens of Escherichia coli O85 and Salmonella enterica O17.
Andrei V. Perepelov,Dan Li,Bin Liu,Sof'ya N. Senchenkova,Dan Guo,Alexander S. Shashkov,Lu Feng,Yuriy A. Knirel,Lei Wang +8 more
TL;DR: A previously undefined pair of Escherichia coli and Salmonella enterica with closely related O-antigens is reported on, which can be used for development of PCR-based assays for identification and detection of E. coli O85 strains.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural and genetic relationships of closely related O-antigens of Cronobacter spp. and Escherichia coli: C. sakazakii G2594 (serotype O4)/E. coli O103 and C. malonaticus G3864 (serotype O1)/E. coli O29.
Alexander S. Shashkov,Min Wang,Eldar M. Turdymuratov,Hu Shaohui,Nikolay P. Arbatsky,Xi Guo,Lei Wang,Yuriy A. Knirel +7 more
TL;DR: Structural and genetic evidences for close relationships between the O-antigens of the Cronobacter spp.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural and molecular characterization of Shigella boydii type 16 O antigen.
Bin Liu,Sof'ya N. Senchenkova,Lu Feng,Andrei V. Perepelov,Tianzheng Xu,Sergei D. Shevelev,Yajuan Zhu,Alexander S. Shashkov,Ming Zou,Yuriy A. Knirel,Lei Wang +10 more
TL;DR: The O antigen gene cluster of S. boydii type 16 was identified and shown to contain putative genes for the synthesis of GDP-D-Man, genes encoding sugar transferases, O unit flippase and O antigen polymerase as expected, and the function of the wzy gene was characterized by mutation test.
