Journal ArticleDOI
Antibodies to β adrenergic and muscarinic cholinergic receptors in patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Madlen Loebel,Patricia Grabowski,Harald Heidecke,Sandra Bauer,Leif G. Hanitsch,Kirsten Wittke,Christian Meisel,Petra Reinke,Hans-Dieter Volk,Øystein Fluge,Olav Mella,Carmen Scheibenbogen +11 more
TL;DR: Evidence is provided that 29.5% of patients with CFS had elevated antibodies against one or more M acetylcholine and β adrenergic receptors which are potential biomarkers for response to B-cell depleting therapy and the association of autoantibodies with immune markers suggests that they activate B and T cells expressingβ adrenergic and M acetelcholine receptors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bronchoalveoloar lavage fluid cytokines and chemokines as markers and predictors for the outcome of interstitial lung disease in systemic sclerosis patients
Katrin Schmidt,Lorena Martinez-Gamboa,Susan Meier,Christian Witt,Christian Meisel,Leif G. Hanitsch,Mike O Becker,Doerte Huscher,Gerd R Burmester,Gabriela Riemekasten +9 more
TL;DR: The association of BALF cytokines with lung fibrosis and its progress suggests that cytokines contribute to the pathogenesis of ILD and hence could be regarded as potential therapeutic targets.
Journal ArticleDOI
Untimely TGFβ responses in COVID-19 limit antiviral functions of NK cells
Mario Witkowski,Mario Witkowski,Caroline Tizian,Marta Ferreira-Gomes,Daniela Niemeyer,Daniela Niemeyer,Terry Jones,Terry Jones,Terry Jones,Frederik Heinrich,Stefan Frischbutter,Stefan Angermair,Thordis Hohnstein,Irene Mattiola,Philipp Nawrath,Sophie Mc Ewen,Silvia Zocche,Edoardo Viviano,Gitta Anne Heinz,Marcus Maurer,Uwe Kölsch,Robert Lorenz Chua,Tom Aschman,Christian Meisel,Josefine Radke,Birgit Sawitzki,Jobst Roehmel,Kristina Allers,V. Corman,Florian Kurth,Leif E. Sander,Christian Drosten,Christian Drosten,Sascha Treskatsch,Pawel Durek,Andrey Kruglov,Andrey Kruglov,Andreas Radbruch,Mir-Farzin Mashreghi,Andreas Diefenbach,Andreas Diefenbach +51 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that in severe SARS-CoV-2, natural killer (NK) cells show remarkable defects in virus control, cytokine production and cell-mediated cytotoxicity despite high expression of cytotoxic effector molecules.
Journal ArticleDOI
The TH1 phenotype of follicular helper T cells indicates an IFN-γ-associated immune dysregulation in patients with CD21low common variable immunodeficiency.
Susanne Unger,Maximilian Seidl,Maximilian Seidl,Pauline A. van Schouwenburg,Mirzokhid Rakhmanov,Alla Bulashevska,Natalie Frede,Bodo Grimbacher,Jens Pfeiffer,Klaudia Schrenk,Klaudia Schrenk,Luis E. Muñoz,Leif G. Hanitsch,Ina Stumpf,Fabian M.P. Kaiser,Oliver Hausmann,Florian Kollert,Sigune Goldacker,Mirjam van der Burg,Baerbel Keller,Klaus Warnatz +20 more
TL;DR: Identification of excessive IFN‐&ggr; production by blood and lymph node–derived T cells of patients with CVID with immune dysregulation will offer new therapeutic avenues for this subgroup.
Journal ArticleDOI
Deficient EBV-specific B- and T-cell response in patients with chronic fatigue syndrome.
Madlen Loebel,Kristin Strohschein,Carolin Giannini,Uwe Koelsch,Sandra Bauer,Cornelia Doebis,Sybill Thomas,Nadine Unterwalder,Volker von Baehr,Petra Reinke,Michael Knops,Leif G. Hanitsch,Christian Meisel,Hans-Dieter Volk,Carmen Scheibenbogen +14 more
TL;DR: Evidence is given for a deficient EBV-specific B- and T-cell memory response in CFS patients and an impaired ability to control early steps of EBV reactivation is suggested, suggesting the diminished EBV response might be suitable to develop diagnostic marker in C FS.
