Journal ArticleDOI

Antitumor activities of O-sulfonated derivatives of (1 → 3)-α-d-glucan from different Lentinus edodes

TL;DR: The experimental results indicate that the O-sulfonated derivatives are water-soluble and exist as an expanded flexible chain in aqueous solution owing to intramolecular hydrogen bonding or interaction between charge groups.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multifunctional chitin-based barrier membrane with antibacterial and osteogenic activities for the treatment of periodontal disease.

TL;DR: Zinc oxide nanoparticles were homogeneously incorporated into the chitin hydrogel (ChT-1%ZnO) through one-step dissolution and regeneration method from alkaline/urea solution the first time and exhibits osteogenesis promotion in vitro, and it was further evaluated with rat periodontal defect model in vivo.
Journal ArticleDOI

Properties of cellulose/Thespesia lampas short fibers bio-composite films.

TL;DR: The fractographs indicated better interfacial bonding between the fibers and cellulose and the tensile properties of the composites were found to be lower than those of the matrix and decreased with increasing fiber content and this behavior was attributed to the random orientation of the fibers in the composite.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microstructure and aggregation behavior of methylcelluloses prepared in NaOH/urea aqueous solutions

TL;DR: In this article, three water-soluble methylcelluloses (MCs) were prepared through homogeneous reaction in NaOH/urea aqueous solution, using dimethyl sulfate as a methylation reagent.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structure and properties of composite films prepared from cellulose and nanocrystalline titanium dioxide particles

TL;DR: In this paper, composite films were successfully prepared from cellulose and two kinds of nanocrystalline TiO2 particles in a NaOH/urea aqueous solution (7.5 : 11 in wt %) by coagulation with H2SO4 solution.
