Modelling $Z\rightarrow\tau\tau$ processes in ATLAS with $\tau$-embedded $Z\rightarrow\mu\mu$ data

Georges Aad, +2847 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe the concept, technical realisation and validation of a largely data-driven method to model events with Z→ττ decays, which is particularly relevant for Higgs boson searches and analyses in ττ final states, where Zarrowτ τ decays constitute a large irreducible background that cannot be obtained directly from data control samples.
Journal ArticleDOI

Study of the efficiency and time resolution of an rpc irradiated with photons and neutrons

TL;DR: In this article, the efficiency and time resolution of an RPC operated with low gas gain under intense irradiation of photons and neutrons were compared with previous measurements obtained using both high and low gain RPC results.

The KLOE data acquisition system : addendum to the KLOE technical proposal

Alberto Aloisio, +124 more

Measurement of the azimuthal anisotropy for charged particle production in √s[subscript NN]=2.76 TeV lead-lead collisions with the ATLAS detector

Georges Aad, +3025 more
TL;DR: A Fourier analysis of the charged particle pair distribution in relative azimuthal angle (φ = φ a − φ b) is performed to extract the coefficients v n,n = =cos nnφ.
Journal ArticleDOI

Resistive Plate Chambers working at high rate

TL;DR: Resistive plate chambers operating at low gas amplification have been tested in the RD5 experiment at CERN on a high intensity pion beam together with a 14 mCi (CO)-C-60 source to give an uniform photon background, simulating conditions close to those expected for an LHC muon detector as discussed by the authors.
