Journal ArticleDOI
Potent immunogenicity and efficacy of a universal influenza vaccine candidate comprising a recombinant fusion protein linking influenza M2e to the TLR5 ligand flagellin.
James W. Huleatt,Valerian Nakaar,Priyanka Desai,Yan Huang,Duane D. Hewitt,Andrea Jacobs,Jie Tang,William F. Mcdonald,Langzhou Song,Robert K. Evans,Scott Umlauf,Lynda Tussey,T.J. Powell +12 more
TL;DR: An influenza A vaccine that is refractory to the genetic instability of hemagglutinin and neuraminidase and includes a trigger of the innate immune response to enhance immunogenicity and efficacy is described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Induction of antigen-specific CD8 + T cells, T helper cells, and protective levels of antibody in humans by particle-mediated administration of a hepatitis B virus DNA vaccine
Michael Roy,Mary S. Wu,Lori J. Barr,James T. Fuller,Lynda Tussey,Sue Speller,Jerilyn Culp,Joseph K. Burkholder,William F. Swain,Russell M Dixon,Georg Widera,Rupert Vessey,Abbi King,Graham S. Ogg,Awen Gallimore,Joel R. Haynes,Deborah H. Fuller +16 more
TL;DR: These results provide the first demonstration of a DNA vaccine inducing protective antibody titers and both humoral and cell-mediated immune responses in humans.
Journal ArticleDOI
Integrase Inhibitors and Cellular Immunity Suppress Retroviral Replication in Rhesus Macaques
Daria J. Hazuda,Steven D. Young,James P. Guare,Neville J. Anthony,Robert P. Gomez,John S. Wai,Joseph P. Vacca,Larry Handt,Sherri L. Motzel,Hilton J. Klein,Geethanjali Dornadula,Robert M. Danovich,Marc V. Witmer,Keith A. Wilson,Lynda Tussey,William A. Schleif,Lori S. Gabryelski,Lixia Jin,Michael D. Miller,Danilo R. Casimiro,Emilio A. Emini,John W. Shiver +21 more
TL;DR: These studies demonstrate integrase inhibitor activity in vivo and suggest that cellular immunity facilitates chemotherapeutic efficacy in retroviral infections.
Journal ArticleDOI
Safety and immunogenicity of a recombinant M2e-flagellin influenza vaccine (STF2.4xM2e) in healthy adults.
Christine B. Turley,Richard E. Rupp,Casey P. Johnson,David N. Taylor,Julie Wolfson,Lynda Tussey,Uma Kavita,Lawrence R. Stanberry,Alan Shaw +8 more
TL;DR: VAX102 was safe and induced high antibody levels to M2e at 0.3 and 1.0 μg doses and was able to induce a fourfold rise in antibody in humans, to a previously non-immunogenic, highly-conserved portion of the influenza virus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Memory T cells and vaccines.
Mark T. Esser,Rocio D. Marchese,Lisa Kierstead,Lynda Tussey,Fubao Wang,Narendra Chirmule,Michael W. Washabaugh +6 more
TL;DR: Understanding the mechanisms by which long-lived cellular immune responses are generated following vaccination should facilitate the development of safe and effective vaccines against these emerging diseases.
