TL;DR: The results show that it should be possible to determine the nature and composition of UHECRs with combined radio and particle detectors, and to detect the ultrahigh-energy neutrinos expected from flavour mixing.

TL;DR: The KASCADE-Grande experiment as mentioned in this paper measured extensive air showers induced by primary cosmic rays in the energy range 1014 − 1018 eV. The major motivation for KASCade-grande is the investigation of the so-called "knee" in energy spectrum of cosmic rays and its presumed rigidity dependence.
Journal ArticleDOI
Energy spectra of elemental groups of cosmic rays: Update on the KASCADE unfolding analysis
W. D. Apel,J.C. Arteaga,A.F. Badea,K. Bekk,J. Blümer,H. Bozdog,I.M. Brancus,M. Brüggemann,Peter Buchholz,F. Cossavella,Kai Daumiller,V. de Souza,P. Doll,Ralph Engel,J. Engler,M. Finger,D. Toma,H. Ulrich,J. van Buren,Wolfgang Walkowiak,A. Weindl,J. Wochele,M. Wommer,J. Zabierowski +55 more
TL;DR: Anti et al. as mentioned in this paper applied the unfolding method with a different low energy interaction model (FLUKA) instead of GHEISHA in the simulations, and the overall description of the measured data improves by using the FLUKA model.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the contribution of an electric field to the radio emission mechanism theoretically and experimentally, and found that during thunderstorms, radio emission can be strongly enhanced.

TL;DR: In this paper, the spectral dependence of the radio emission from cosmic-ray air showers around 100 PeV (10 17 eV) was studied with the dipole-interferometer LOPES (LOFAR Prototype Station), which is triggered by a particle detector array named Karlsruhe Shower Core and Array Detector (KASCADE).
