Toxicity of carboxylated carbon nanotubes in endothelial cells is attenuated by stimulation of the autophagic flux with the release of nanomaterial in autophagic vesicles

TL;DR: It is reported that carboxylated multiwalled carbon nanotubes induce a decrease in viability of cultured human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) associated with the profound accumulation of autophagosomes, and pharmacological stimulation of the autophagic flux may represent a new method of cytoprotection against toxic effects of nanomaterials.
Journal ArticleDOI

Polydendrocytes Display Large Lineage Plasticity following Focal Cerebral Ischemia

TL;DR: The data indicate that polydendrocytes in the dorsal cortex display multipotent differentiation potential after focal ischemia, and some EGFP+ cells displayed membrane properties typical for neural precursor cells, and moreover these cells expressed doublecortin – a marker of newly-derived neuronal cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Glycopolymers for Efficient Inhibition of Galectin-3: In Vitro Proof of Efficacy Using Suppression of T Lymphocyte Apoptosis and Tumor Cell Migration.

TL;DR: The strong inhibitory activity toward Gal-3, combined with favorable pharmacokinetics of HPMA copolymers ensuring enhanced tumor accumulation via the enhanced permeability and retention effect, nominate the glycopolymers containing LacdiNAc-LacNAc (GalNAc β4GlcNAcβ3Galβ4GlCNAc) tetrasaccharide as promising tools for preclinical in anti-cancer therapy evaluation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Colloidally Stable P(DMA-AGME)-Ale-Coated Gd(Tb)F3:Tb3+(Gd3+),Yb3+,Nd3+ Nanoparticles as a Multimodal Contrast Agent for Down- and Upconversion Luminescence, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, and Computed Tomography.

TL;DR: In this article, hydrophilic poly(N,N-dimethylacrylamide-N-acryloylglycine methyl ester)-alendronate-[P(DMA-AGME)-Ale]-coated Gd(Tb)F3:Tb3+(Gd3+),Yb3+,Nd3+) nanoparticles were synthesized by a coprecipitation method in ethylene glycol (EG) followed by coating with the polymer.
