Nanoparticles Engineering by Pulsed Laser Ablation in Liquids: Concepts and Applications
Enza Fazio,Bilal Gökce,Alessandro De Giacomo,Moreno Meneghetti,Giuseppe Compagnini,Matteo Tommasini,Friedrich Waag,Andrea Lucotti,Chiara Zanchi,Paolo Maria Ossi,Marcella Dell’Aglio,Luisa D'Urso,Marcello Condorelli,Vittorio Scardaci,Francesca Biscaglia,Lucio Litti,Marina Gobbo,Giovanni Gallo,Marco Santoro,Sebastiano Trusso,Fortunato Neri +20 more
TL;DR: Biomedicine, catalysis and sensing are the application areas mainly discussed in this review, highlighting advantages of laser-synthesized nanoparticles for these types of applications and, once partially resolved, the limitations to the technique for large-scale applications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tuning the Composition of Alloy Nanoparticles Through Laser Mixing: The Role of Surface Plasmon Resonance
Gabriele Messina,M Sinatra,Valentina Bonanni,Valentina Bonanni,Rosaria Brescia,Alessandro Alabastri,Francesco Pineider,Francesco Pineider,Giulio Campo,Claudio Sangregorio,Giovanni Li-Destri,Gianfranco Sfuncia,Giovanni Marletta,Marcello Condorelli,Remo Proietti Zaccaria,Francesco De Angelis,Giuseppe Compagnini +16 more
TL;DR: A technique for the preparation of AuxNi1-x alloy nanoparticles based on pulsed laser irradiation in liquid of Au and Ni@NiO colloidal mixtures is reported in this article.
Journal ArticleDOI
A solar photothermocatalytic approach for the CO2 conversion: Investigation of different synergisms on CoO-CuO/brookite TiO2-CeO2 catalysts
Roberto Fiorenza,Marianna Bellardita,Stefano Andrea Balsamo,Luca Spitaleri,Antonino Gulino,Marcello Condorelli,Luisa D'Urso,Salvatore Scirè,Leonardo Palmisano +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, photoactive features of the least common polymorph of TiO2, i.e. brookite, were combined with the thermocatalytic redox ones of cerium oxide, focusing on the effects of the addition of small amounts of Co-Cu oxides for the solar CO2 conversion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Symmetry-breaking transitions in the early steps of protein self-assembly
Carmelo La Rosa,Marcello Condorelli,Giuseppe Compagnini,Fabio Lolicato,Fabio Lolicato,Fabio Lolicato,Danilo Milardi,Trang Nhu Do,Mikko Karttunen,Martina Pannuzzo,Ayyalusamy Ramamoorthy,Franca Fraternali,Francesca Collu,Human Rezaei,Birgit Strodel,Antonio Raudino +15 more
TL;DR: A theoretical model according to which self-assemblies of peptides with pronounced conformational flexibility may become, under particular conditions, unstable and spontaneously evolve toward an alternating array of partially ordered and disordered monomers is developed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detection and characterization at nM concentration of oligomers formed by hIAPP, Aβ(1–40) and their equimolar mixture using SERS and MD simulations
Luisa D'Urso,Marcello Condorelli,Orazio Puglisi,Carmelo Tempra,Fabio Lolicato,Fabio Lolicato,Giuseppe Compagnini,Carmelo La Rosa +7 more
TL;DR: The data show the ability of silver NPs coupled with SERS to detect secondary structures of IAPP, Aβ(1-40) and their 1 : 1 molar ratio mixture in the oligomeric state, and an inhomogeneity in the chemical composition of I APP/Aβ( 1- 40) oligomer aggregates.
