Journal ArticleDOI

Interobserver variability of ventilatory anaerobic threshold in asymptomatic volunteers

TL;DR: Experienced physicians show high agreement when determining AT in asymptomatic volunteers, however, agreement between physicians and qualified medical assistants is lower, and there is substantial deviation in AT determination between physicians or medical assistants and software-based algorithms.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of traditional diabetes risk scores and HbA1c to predict type 2 diabetes mellitus in a population based cohort study.

TL;DR: All diabetes risk scores and the HbA1c showed a good prediction for the risk of T2DM in SHIP and which model or biomarker should be used is driven by its context of use.
Journal ArticleDOI

MD-2 is a new predictive biomarker in dilated cardiomyopathy and exerts direct effects in isolated cardiomyocytes

TL;DR: MD-2 predicts long-term outcome in DCM patients and improves mortality risk prediction capability compared to NT-pro-BNP alone and in-vitro, recombinant MD-2 decreases cell shortening and modulates cytokine activation in isolated cardiomyocytes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Association between serum testosterone and sex hormone-binding globulin and exercise capacity in men: results of the Study of Health in Pomerania (SHIP).

TL;DR: At peak exercise performance, testosterone and SHBG levels showed no associations with V'O(2 peak) at L as well as maximal power output, even after controlling for confounding factors including age, body mass index, physical activity, and smoking.
