Association of glycated hemoglobin A1c levels with cardiovascular outcomes in the general population: results from the BiomarCaRE (Biomarker for Cardiovascular Risk Assessment in Europe) consortium.
Christoph Sinning,Nataliya Makarova,Henry Völzke,Renate B. Schnabel,Francisco Ojeda,Marcus Dörr,Stephan B. Felix,Wolfgang Koenig,Wolfgang Koenig,Annette Peters,Wolfgang Rathmann,Ben Schöttker,Ben Schöttker,Hermann Brenner,Hermann Brenner,Giovanni Veronesi,Giancarlo Cesana,Paolo Brambilla,Tarja Palosaari,Kari Kuulasmaa,Inger Njølstad,Ellisiv B. Mathiesen,Tom Wilsgaard,Stefan Blankenberg,Stefan Söderberg,Marco M Ferrario,Barbara Thorand +26 more
TL;DR: HbA1c was demonstrated to be an independent prognostic biomarker for all investigated outcomes in the general European population underlining the importance of HbA 1c levels in the overall population.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improved prediction of all-cause mortality by a combination of serum total testosterone and insulin-like growth factor I in adult men.
Nele Friedrich,Harald Jörn Schneider,Robin Haring,Matthias Nauck,Henry Völzke,Heyo K. Kroemer,Marcus Dörr,Jens Klotsche,Caroline Jung-Sievers,David Pittrow,Hendrik Lehnert,Winfried März,Lars Pieper,Hans-Ulrich Wittchen,Henri Wallaschofski,Günter K. Stalla +15 more
TL;DR: The results prove that multiple anabolic deficiencies have a higher impact on mortality than a single anabolic deficiency and suggest that assessment of more than one anabolic hormone as a biomarker improve the prediction of all-cause mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic Determinants of Electrocardiographic P-Wave Duration and Relation to Atrial Fibrillation.

Lunetta,Patrick T. Ellinor,Steven A. Lubitz +70 more
TL;DR: Prolonged PWD may be an endophenotype for several different genetic mechanisms of AF, and underscore the shared mechanisms of atrial conduction and AF.
Journal ArticleDOI
Levels of and determinants for physical activity and physical inactivity in a group of healthy elderly people in Germany: Baseline results of the MOVING-study.
Fabian Kleinke,Peter Penndorf,Sabina Ulbricht,Marcus Dörr,Wolfgang Hoffmann,Neeltje van den Berg +5 more
TL;DR: The determinants for higher PA and lower PI differed between males and females, and strategies for improving PA and decrease PI are likely different with respect to sex and should take individual factors (e.g. age, BMI).
Journal ArticleDOI
Peripheral endothelial dysfunction is associated with gas exchange inefficiency in smokers
Sven Gläser,Anne Obst,Christian Opitz,Marcus Dörr,Stephan B. Felix,Klaus Empen,Henry Völzke,Ralf Ewert,Christoph Schäper,Beate Koch +9 more
TL;DR: In current smokers, FMD is significantly associated with ventilatory efficiency, which may be interpreted as a potential clinical link between smoking and early pulmonary vasculopathy due to smoking.
