Journal ArticleDOI

ADA activity is decreased in lymphocytes from patients with advanced stage of lung cancer

TL;DR: The data show an indirect evidence that purinergic signaling may have a role in promoting a profile of cytokines levels that favors tumor progression, and decreased ADA activity and the increase in A1 receptor expression may contribute to adenosine pro-tumor effects.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of mediators of oxidative stress and inflammation in patients with acute appendicitis.

TL;DR: Serum levels of interleukins, TNF-α, and INF-γ were significantly elevated in patients with appendicitis, except for IL-10, which presented decreased levels, and evaluating these biomarkers could aid in diagnosing AA.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of curcumin on the activities of the enzymes that hydrolyse adenine nucleotides in platelets from cigarette smoke-exposed rats.

TL;DR: The results suggest that those purinergic enzyme alterations observed in the cigarette smoke‐exposed rats could be related to an excessive platelet aggregation and point toward the potential of Cur to modulatePurinergic signalling and, consequently, regulate the thrombus formation.
