Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of phenylalanine and its metabolites on ATP diphosphohydrolase activity in synaptosomes from rat cerebral cortex
Angela T. S. Wyse,João José Freitas Sarkis,João Sabino Cunha-Filho,Marcio Vieira Teixeira,Maria Rosa Chitolina Schetinger,Moacir Wajner,Clovis Milton Duval Wannmacher +6 more
TL;DR: The results on the deleterious effects of phenylalanine and phenylpyruvate on ATP diphosphohydrolase activity may be related to the neurological dysfunction characteristics of naturally and chemically induced hyperphenylalaninemia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of dietary supplementation of ginger and turmeric rhizomes on ectonucleotidases, adenosine deaminase and acetylcholinesterase activities in synaptosomes from the cerebral cortex of hypertensive rats
Ayodele J. Akinyemi,Ayodele J. Akinyemi,Ayodele J. Akinyemi,Gustavo R. Thomé,Vera Maria Morsch,Naiara Stefanello,Pauline da Costa,Andréia Machado Cardoso,Jeferson Ferraz Goularte,Adriane Belló-Klein,Akintunde Afolabi Akindahunsi,Ganiyu Oboh,Maria Rosa Chitolina Schetinger +12 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that both rhizomes interfere with the purinergic and cholinergic neurotransmission in cerebral cortex of hypertensive rats, suggesting that both Rhizomes exert neuroprotective potential under hypertensive state.
Journal ArticleDOI
A method for isolation of rat lymphocyte-rich mononuclear cells from lung tissue useful for determination of nucleoside triphosphate diphosphohydrolase activity.
Jeandre Augusto dos Santos Jaques,João Felipe Peres Rezer,Jader B. Ruchel,Jessié Martins Gutierres,André Valle de Bairros,Iria Luiza Gomes Farias,Sônia Cristina Almeida da Luz,Claudia de Mello Bertoncheli,Maria Rosa Chitolina Schetinger,Vera Maria Morsch,Daniela B.R. Leal +10 more
TL;DR: It is affirm that NTPDase activity could be expressed in millions of viable cells, millions of cells, or milligrams of protein.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lead Induced Responses of Pfaffia glomerata , an Economically Important Brazilian Medicinal Plant, Under In Vitro Culture Conditions
Dharmendra K. Gupta,Fernando Teixeira Nicoloso,Maria Rosa Chitolina Schetinger,Liana Veronica Rossato,Huagang Huang,Sudhakar Srivastava,Xiaoe Yang +6 more
TL;DR: The growth of plantlets was negatively affected by various lead treatments, although the level of photosynthetic pigments did not alter significantly in response to any lead treatment, and plantlets suffered from oxidative stress as suggested by the significant increase in malondialdehyde levels in root and shoot tissues with increasing lead treatments.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chelating effect of novel pyrimidines in a model of aluminum intoxication.
J.R. Missel,Maria Rosa Chitolina Schetinger,Carolina Rosa Gioda,D.N. Bohrer,Iraci de Lourdes Pacholski,Nilo Zanatta,Marcos A. P. Martins,Helio G. Bonacorso,Vera Maria Morsch +8 more
TL;DR: The results showed that when administered by gavage, aluminum accumulated in the brain, kidney and liver of mice, and MTPH was able to decrease aluminum levels in aluminum plus citrate animal groups, whereas THP was inefficient for this purpose.
