Laser flash photolysis was used to investigate the fast reaction of 4-(2- p -dimethylaminophenyl ethynil)-6,6-dimethyl-3-cyano-5,6-dihydro-2(1H)-pyridone (DHP) with the intermediate complex of platinum(III), PtCl 2− 5 , appearing in the photoreduction of PtCl 2− 6 in methanol. Kinetic and spectroscopic parameters of the new-formed complex PtCl 2− 5 |DHP were determined. DHP in this complex is coordinated by an −N(CH 3 ) 2 group nitrogen atom since a similar molecule with this group substituted by −O(CH 3 ) does not react with PtCl 2− 5 . Steady-state photolysis has shown that the transformation Pt(III) a Pt(II) involves escape of DHP from the coordination sphere since the final complex Pt(II)|DHP is not formed.

Laser pulse photolysis study of the reaction of the intermediate platinum(III) complex PtCl2−5 and 4-(2-p-dimethylaminophenyl ethynil)-6,6-dimethyl-3-cyano-5,6-dihydro-2(1H)-pyridone

The enamine (HEAID) obtained from aniline and 2-acetyl-1,3-indandione (2AID) behaves as a bidentate ligand in coordination with copper (II) ion. Two types of crystals, apparently different in shape, were isolated and studied by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The X-ray data for the brown rhombic crystals of compound 1 shows a mononuclear complex of Cu(II) coordinated with two EAID-anions, Cu(EAID)2. The X-ray data for the green crystals of compound 2 shows a dinuclear Cu(II) complex with two OH− groups acting as bridging ligands, [Cu2(μ-OH)2(EAID)2]. In both cases the ligand coordinates after deprotonation of the amine group.

X-Ray and EPR study on copper (II) complexes with an enamine ligand

The cobalt(II)-, nickel(II)- and copper(II)-complexes of diethyl-(2-oxo-1-phenylethyl)phosphonate 1 (2, 3, and 4, respectively) are synthesized using the corresponding metal acetates. Their structure is studied by spectroscopic (IR, electronic and EPR) and magnetochemical methods. The experimental data indicate that the cobalt and nickel complexes 2 and 3 are octahedrically coordinated by the bidentate phosphonyl and acetate ligands. EPR evidences of the formation of two different Cu(II) complex species in solution are also obtained.
