Journal ArticleDOI
Cannabidiol: State of the art and new challenges for therapeutic applications
Simona Pisanti,Anna Maria Malfitano,Elena Ciaglia,Anna Lamberti,Roberta Ranieri,Gaia Cuomo,Mario Abate,Giorgio Faggiana,Maria Proto,Donatella Fiore,Chiara Laezza,Maurizio Bifulco +11 more
TL;DR: This review highlights the pharmacological activities of CBD, its cannabinoid receptor-dependent and -independent action, its biological effects focusing on immunomodulation, angiogenetic properties, and modulation of neuronal and cardiovascular function, and the therapeutic potential of cannabidiol.
Journal ArticleDOI
Correlation of the two most frequent HLA haplotypes in the Italian population to the differential regional incidence of Covid-19.
Simona Pisanti,Joris Deelen,Anna Maria Gallina,Mariella Caputo,Marianna Citro,Mario Abate,Nicoletta Sacchi,Carmine Vecchione,Rosanna Martinelli +8 more
TL;DR: The creation of national networks that can collect patients’ samples from all regions for HLA typing should be highly encouraged and the two most frequent HLA haplotypes in the Italian population showed respectively a positive and negative correlation with both Covid-19 incidence and mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI
Immuno-Modulatory and Anti-Inflammatory Effects of Dihydrogracilin A, a Terpene Derived from the Marine Sponge Dendrilla membranosa.
Elena Ciaglia,Anna Maria Malfitano,Chiara Laezza,Angelo Fontana,Genoveffa Nuzzo,Adele Cutignano,Mario Abate,Marco Pelin,Silvio Sosa,Maurizio Bifulco,Maurizio Bifulco,Patrizia Gazzerro +11 more
TL;DR: Results suggest that 9,11-dihydrogracilin A exerts anti-inflammatory effects and its anti-edema activity in vivo strongly supports its potential therapeutic application in inflammatory cutaneous diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Deregulated expression and activity of Farnesyl Diphosphate Synthase (FDPS) in Glioblastoma
Mario Abate,Chiara Laezza,Simona Pisanti,Giovanni Fernando Torelli,Vincenzo Seneca,Giuseppe Catapano,Francesco Montella,Roberta Ranieri,Maria Notarnicola,Patrizia Gazzerro,Maurizio Bifulco,Maurizio Bifulco,Elena Ciaglia +12 more
TL;DR: A more refined map of the connectivity between signal transduction pathways and metabolic networks in cancer FDPS as a new candidate metabolic oncogene in glioblastoma might suggest to further target MVA pathway as valid therapeutic tool.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antiglioma effects of N6-isopentenyladenosine, an endogenous isoprenoid end product, through the downregulation of epidermal growth factor receptor.
Elena Ciaglia,Mario Abate,Chiara Laezza,Simona Pisanti,Mario Vitale,Vincenzo Seneca,Giovanni Fernando Torelli,Silvia Franceschelli,Giuseppe Catapano,Patrizia Gazzerro,Maurizio Bifulco +10 more
TL;DR: This study provides the first evidence of iPA antiglioma effect as glioma is driven by aberrant signaling of growth factor receptors, particularly the EGFR, and iPA, alone or in association with EGFR targeted therapies, might be a promising therapeutic tool to achieve a potent anti‐tumoral effect.
