Journal ArticleDOI
7-Ketocholesterol induces reversible cytochrome c release in smooth muscle cells in absence of mitochondrial swelling.
Cheikh I. Seye,Michiel W.M. Knaapen,Danièle Daret,Claude Desgranges,Arnold G. Herman,Mark M. Kockx,Hidde Bult +6 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that cytochrome c release during oxysterol-induced SMC apoptosis is not caspase-dependent and occurs as a result of a reversible mitochondrial conformational change rather than swelling and rupture of the outer membrane.
Journal ArticleDOI
A randomized controlled phase II clinical trial on mRNA electroporated autologous monocyte-derived dendritic cells (TriMixDC-MEL) as adjuvant treatment for stage III/IV melanoma patients who are disease-free following the resection of macrometastases
Yanina Jansen,Vibeke Kruse,Jurgen Corthals,Kelly Schats,Peter A. van Dam,Teofila Seremet,Carlo Heirman,Lieve Brochez,Mark M. Kockx,Kris Thielemans,Bart Neyns +10 more
TL;DR: TriMixDC-MEL id/iv as adjuvant therapy is tolerable and may improve the 1-year disease-free survival rate, and combination of optimized autologous monocyte-derived DC-formulations warrants further investigation in combination with currently approved adjUvant therapy options.
Journal ArticleDOI
Western blot analysis of a limited number of cells: a valuable adjunct to proteome analysis of paraffin wax-embedded, alcohol-fixed tissue after laser capture microdissection.
Wim Martinet,Vanessa Abbeloos,Nathalie Van Acker,Guido R.Y. De Meyer,Arnold G. Herman,Mark M. Kockx +5 more
TL;DR: The findings of this study suggest that western blotting is a valuable adjunct to proteome analysis of LCM procured cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Periadventitial Inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase Expression and Intimal Thickening
Guido R.Y. De Meyer,Mark M. Kockx,Kristel M. Cromheeke,Cheikh I. Seye,Arnold G. Herman,Hidde Bult +5 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that inducible nitric oxide synthase was not induced in intimal thickenings predominantly consisting of smooth muscle cells, however, iNOS was expressed in (peri)adventitial tissue and counteracted the progression of intimal thickening.
Journal ArticleDOI
Immune phenotype and histopathological growth pattern in patients with colorectal liver metastases.
Stefan Stremitzer,Peter B. Vermeulen,Shannon Graver,Mark M. Kockx,Luc Dirix,Dongyun Yang,Wu Zhang,Judith Stift,Friedrich Wrba,Thomas Gruenberger,Heinz-Josef Lenz,Stefan Scherer +11 more
TL;DR: The desmoplastic HGP is associated with the inflamed IP and HGP may be a potential biomarker for adjuvant treatment that includes targeting the immune contexture.
