Hard-X-ray dark-field imaging using a grating interferometer
Franz Pfeiffer,Franz Pfeiffer,Martin Bech,Oliver Bunk,P. Kraft,E. F. Eikenberry,Christian Brönnimann,Christian Grünzweig,Christian David +8 more
TL;DR: This letter reports a new approach on the basis of a grating interferometer that can efficiently yield dark-field scatter images of high quality, even with conventional X-ray tube sources and is fully compatible with conventional transmission radiography and a recently developed hard-X-ray phase-contrast imaging scheme.
Journal ArticleDOI
High-resolution brain tumor visualization using three-dimensional x-ray phase contrast tomography
Franz Pfeiffer,Franz Pfeiffer,Oliver Bunk,C. David,Martin Bech,G. Le Duc,Alberto Bravin,Peter Cloetens +7 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated how the soft tissue sensitivity of the technique is increased and in vitro tomographic images of a tumor bearing rat brain sample are shown, without use of contrast agents.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantitative x-ray dark-field computed tomography
TL;DR: To quantitatively assess the new potential of particularly the grating-based dark-field imaging modality, a mathematical formalism together with a material-dependent parameter, the so-called linear diffusion coefficient, is introduced and it is shown that this description can yield quantitative dark- field computed tomography (QDFCT) images of experimental test phantoms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Emphysema diagnosis using X-ray dark-field imaging at a laser-driven compact synchrotron light source
Simone Schleede,Felix G. Meinel,Martin Bech,Martin Bech,Julia Herzen,Klaus Achterhold,Guillaume Potdevin,Andreas Malecki,Silvia Adam-Neumair,Sven F. Thieme,Fabian Bamberg,Konstantin Nikolaou,Alexander Bohla,Ali Oe. Yildirim,Roderick J. Loewen,Martin Gifford,Ronald D. Ruth,Oliver Eickelberg,Maximilian F. Reiser,Franz Pfeiffer +19 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used grating-based dark-field images of emphysematous vs. healthy lung tissue to monitor the morphological changes that the alveoli network undergoes in the progression of these diseases, which is related to small-angle scattering in the sample.
Journal ArticleDOI
In-vivo dark-field and phase-contrast x-ray imaging
Martin Bech,Arne Tapfer,Astrid Velroyen,Andre Yaroshenko,Bart Pauwels,J Hostens,Peter Bruyndonckx,Alexander Sasov,Franz Pfeiffer +8 more
TL;DR: In-vivo multi-contrast x-ray imaging of a mouse using a compact scanner shows enhanced contrast in regions related to the respiratory system, indicating a possible application in diagnosis of lung diseases.
