Karlsson,Harris A. Lewin +23 more
TL;DR: A large number of mammals that can potentially be infected by SARS-CoV-2 via their ACE2 proteins are identified to assist the identification of intermediate hosts for Sars-Cov-2 and hence reduce the opportunity for a future outbreak of COVID-19.
Journal ArticleDOI
A comparative genomics multitool for scientific discovery and conservation
Diane P. Genereux,Aitor Serres,Joel Armstrong,Jeremy Johnson,Voichita D. Marinescu,Eva Murén,David Juan,Gill Bejerano,Nicholas R. Casewell,Leona G. Chemnick,Joana Damas,Federica Di Palma,Mark Diekhans,Ian T. Fiddes,Manuel Garber,Vadim N. Gladyshev,Linda Goodman,Wilfried Haerty,Marlys L. Birren,Oliver A. Ryder,Harris A. Lewin,Benedict Paten,Tomas Marques-Bonet,Kerstin Lindblad-Toh,Elinor K. Karlsson +47 more
TL;DR: It is found that regions of reduced genetic diversity are more abundant in species at a high risk of extinction, discern signals of evolutionary selection at high resolution and provide insights from individual reference genomes.

TL;DR: A protein structural analysis was employed to qualitatively assess whether amino acid changes at variable residues would be likely to disrupt ACE2/SARS-CoV-2 binding, and found the number of predicted unfavorable changes significantly correlated with the binding score.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dental asymmetry as a measure of environmental stress in the Ticuna Indians of Colombia.
TL;DR: The magnitude of fluctuating dental asymmetry is reported for a marginally Westernized, horticultural Indian group, the Ticuna of the Region Amazonas, Colombia, which accords with the adequacy and reliability of traditional food sources and complements the claim that protein intake is at or above minimum requirements.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tooth size of Ticuna Indians, Colombia, with phenetic comparisons to other Amerindians
TL;DR: This study reports an odontometric analyses of unadmixed, adult Ticuna Indians, Colombia, South America, characterized by crown diameters intermediate in size relative to the known Amerindian range and, in turn, to the range in modern man.
