Langermans,Christian Drosten,Martje Fentener van Vlissingen,Ron A. M. Fouchier,Rik L. de Swart,Marion Koopmans,Bart L. Haagmans +24 more
TL;DR: Comparisons of three human coronaviruses in cynomolgus macaques show that SARS-CoV-2 causes COVID-19–like disease in macaques and provides a new model to test preventive and therapeutic strategies.
Journal ArticleDOI
SARS-CoV-2 is transmitted via contact and via the air between ferrets.
Mathilde Richard,Adinda Kok,Dennis de Meulder,Theo M. Bestebroer,Mart M. Lamers,Nisreen M.A. Okba,Martje Fentener van Vlissingen,Barry Rockx,Bart L. Haagmans,Marion Koopmans,Ron A. M. Fouchier,Sander Herfst +11 more
TL;DR: Experimental evidence of robust transmission of SARS-CoV-2 via the air is provided, supporting the implementation of community-level social distancing measures currently applied in many countries in the world and informing decisions on infection control measures in healthcare settings.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors report the engineering, structural and biological characterization of synthetic nanobodies (sybodies) that display potent therapeutic activity against SARS-CoV-2 infection in animal models via targeting the virus receptor-binding domain.

TL;DR: SARS-CoV-2 infection in macaques results in COVID-19-like disease with prolonged virus excreted from nose and throat in absence of clinical signs, and it is suggested that the severity of SARS- covirus infection is intermediate between that of Sars- coV and MERS-Cov.
