Journal ArticleDOI
Both resistance training and aerobic training reduce hepatic fat content in type 2 diabetic subjects with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (the RAED2 Randomized Trial).
Elisabetta Bacchi,Carlo Negri,Giovanni Targher,Niccolò Faccioli,Massimo Lanza,Giacomo Zoppini,Elisabetta Zanolin,Federico Schena,Enzo Bonora,Paolo Moghetti +9 more
TL;DR: This is the first randomized controlled study to demonstrate that resistance training and aerobic training are equally effective in reducing hepatic fat content among type 2 diabetic patients with NAFLD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Metabolic Effects of Aerobic Training and Resistance Training in Type 2 Diabetic Subjects: A randomized controlled trial (the RAED2 study)
Elisabetta Bacchi,C. Negri,Maria Elisabetta Zanolin,Chiara Milanese,Niccolò Faccioli,Maddalena Trombetta,Giacomo Zoppini,Antonio Cevese,Riccardo C. Bonadonna,Federico Schena,Enzo Bonora,Massimo Lanza,Paolo Moghetti +12 more
TL;DR: Resistance training, similarly to aerobic training, improves metabolic features and insulin sensitivity and reduces abdominal fat in type 2 diabetic patients and changes after training in VO2peak and truncal fat may be primary determinants of exercise-induced metabolic improvement.
Journal ArticleDOI
Determinants of diet and physical activity (DEDIPAC): a summary of findings.
Johannes Brug,Hidde P. van der Ploeg,Hidde P. van der Ploeg,Anne Loyen,Wolfgang Ahrens,Oliver Allais,Lene Frost Andersen,Greet Cardon,Laura Capranica,Sebastien F. M. Chastin,Sebastien F. M. TL;DR: An overview of what was achieved in terms of furthering measurement and monitoring is given, providing overviews of the state-of-the-art in the field, and building toolboxes for further research and practice is proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Physical Activity and Exercise in Lung Cancer Care: Will Promises Be Fulfilled?
Alice Avancini,Giulia Sartori,A. Gkountakos,Miriam Casali,Ilaria Trestini,Daniela Tregnago,Emilio Bria,Lee W. Jones,Lee W. Jones,Michele Milella,Massimo Lanza,Sara Pilotto +11 more
TL;DR: Benefit of exercise appears to be potentially enhanced when administered as a multidimensional, comprehensive approach to patients' well-being.
Journal ArticleDOI
Towards the integration and development of a cross-European research network and infrastructure: the DEterminants of DIet and Physical ACtivity (DEDIPAC) Knowledge Hub
Jeroen Lakerveld,Jeroen Lakerveld,Hidde P. van der Ploeg,Willemieke Kroeze,Wolfgang Ahrens,Oliver Allais,Lene Frost Andersen,Greet Cardon,Laura Capranica,Sebastien F. M. Chastin,Alan E. Schuit,Matthias B. Schulze,Jürgen M. Steinacker,Karien Stronks,Dorothee Volkert,Pieter van 't Veer,Nanna Lien,Ilse De Bourdeaudhuij,Johannes Brug +36 more
TL;DR: The Determinants of Diet and Physical Activity Knowledge Hub (KH) is the first act of the European JPI `A Healthy Diet for a Healthy Life’ and should further European research and improve the broad multi-disciplinary approach needed to study the interactions between multilevel determinants in influencing dietary, physical activity and sedentary behaviours.
