Including appendixes, this book contains 894 pages of text. The entire panorama of the neural sciences is surveyed and examined, and it is comprehensive in its scope, from genomes to social behaviors. The editors explicitly state that the book is designed as "an introductory text for students of biology, behavior, and medicine," but it is hard to imagine any audience, interested in any fragment of neuroscience at any level of sophistication, that would not enjoy this book. Amac: Duzenli egzersizin ulserogenez uzerine olan etkisini arastirmaktir. Gerec ve Yontem: Wistar albino sicanlar, sedanter ve egzersiz gruplari olarak ikiye ayrildi. Alti haftalik egzersizin sonunda, anestezi altinda mide serozasina asetik-asit uygulanarak ulser olusturulurken, kontrol gruplarina taklit-cerrahi yapildi. Ulser uygulanmasinin 3. ve 10. gunlerinde, anksiyete duzeyleri belirlendi ve sicanlar dekapite edildi. Serum kortizol seviyeleri olculdu; mide dokusu ornekleri malondialdehit (MDA), glutatyon (GSH), miyeloperoksidaz (MPO), nitrik oksit (NO), luminol-lusigenin problari ile kemiluminesans (KL) olcumleri ve histopatolojik analiz icin alindi. Bulgular: Kontrol gruplarina kiyasla sedanter 3 ve 10 gunluk ulser gruplarinda MPO ve MDA seviyeleri artarken, GSH seviyeleri azaldi. Bu degisiklikler 10 gunluk ulser gruplarinda kontrol duzeylerine dondu. Egzersiz yapan 3 gunluk ulser grubunda tum parametreler tersine dondu. Ulser ile artmis bulunan lusigenin KL duzeyi egzersiz ile baskilanirken NO duzeyi egzersizle anlamli olarak artmis bulundu. Histolojik incelemede egzersiz gruplarinda lezyon skorlari dusuk bulundu. Ulser yapilan sedanter ve egzersiz gruplarinda kortizol seviyeleri arasinda farklilik gorulmedi. Ulsere bagli artan anksiyete, 3 gunluk egzersiz yapan ulser gruplarinda azalirken 10 gunluk ulser grubunda degismedi. Sonuc: Duzenli yuzme egzersizi, dokuya notrofil infiltrasyonunu engellemek, NO yapimini uyarmak ve anksiyeteyi azaltmak yoluyla midede oksidatif hasari hafifletmektedir. Duzenli egzersiz, mide ulserinin gelismesini yavaslatan ve iyilesmesini kolaylastiran bir yaklasim olarak dikkate alinmalidir.

Anti-inflammotory effects of Nesfatin-1 in rats with acetic acid induced colitis and underlying mechanism

Background/aim Presepsin is a useful biomarker for diagnosing sepsis. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between oxidative stress and presepsin levels in animal models. Materials and methods Sprague-Dawley rats were used for cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) and to generate massive bowel resection (MBR) models. Trunk blood was collected for analysis of presepsin. Liver and intestinal tissue samples were taken to determine oxidative stress parameters. Results Presepsin levels in MBR and CLP sepsis models were higher than those in control groups. Reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS) and malondialdehyde levels were increased in the liver and small intestine of rats in both models, whereas glutathione levels were decreased. Conclusion Presepsin levels and RONS may be released by the same mechanism which is closely associated with the progression of sepsis and inflammation in both CLP and MBR models.
