Journal ArticleDOI
Ultrasound-activated TiO2/GO-based bifunctional photoreactive adsorbents for detoxification of chemical warfare agent surrogate vapors
Dimitrios A. Giannakoudakis,Nasim Farahmand,Nasim Farahmand,Dariusz Łomot,Kamil Sobczak,Teresa J. Bandosz,Teresa J. Bandosz,Juan Carlos Colmenares +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, commercial TiO2 (P25) alone or in the presence of graphite oxide (GO) was exposed to ultrasound treatment (US) with the objective to modify the surface of nanoparticles through introducing defects and chemical heterogeneity, and to build the composite with GO of synergistic features.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stoichiometric Control over Ferroic Behavior in Ba(Ti1–xFex)O3 Nanocrystals
Julien Lombardi,Julien Lombardi,Long Yang,Frederick A. Pearsall,Frederick A. Pearsall,Nasim Farahmand,Nasim Farahmand,Zheng Gai,Simon J. L. Billinge,Simon J. L. Billinge,Stephen O'Brien,Stephen O'Brien +11 more
TL;DR: Ba(Ti,Fe)O3 is a useful system for the exploration of multiferroic properties as a function of composition and variation in structure, based upon a model of intersubstitution of the B site cation as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ultrasmall Downconverting Nanoparticle for Enhanced Cerenkov Imaging.
Qize Zhang,Qize Zhang,Qize Zhang,Edwin C. Pratt,Edwin C. Pratt,Ryo Tamura,Anuja Ogirala,Hsiao-Ting Hsu,Nasim Farahmand,Nasim Farahmand,Stephen O'Brien,Stephen O'Brien,Jan Grimm +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a strategy to shift Cerenkov light to the more penetrative red-light region through the use of a fluorescent down-conversion technique, based upon europium oxide nanoparticles.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polymer–Nanocrystal Nanocomposites: Device Concepts in Capacitors and Multiferroics
Frederick A. Pearsall,Ioannis Kymissis,Peter R. Kinget,Seth R. Sanders,Daniel A. Steingart,Stephen O'Brien,Julien Lombardi,Nasim Farahmand,Barry van Tassel,Eli S. Leland,Limin Huang,Shuangyi Liu,Shyuan Yang,Chengrui Le +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the potential overlap of magnetic permeability with permittivity can produce enactable devices for magnetodielectrics and magnetoelectrics, by combining colloidal nanoparticle fillers and polymer hosts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure–property trends in a hollandite multiferroic by Fe doping: structural, magnetic and dielectric characterization of nanocrystalline BaMn3−xFexTi4O14+δ
Frederick A. Pearsall,Frederick A. Pearsall,Nasim Farahmand,Nasim Farahmand,Julien Lombardi,Julien Lombardi,Sunil Dehipawala,Zheng Gai,Stephen O'Brien,Stephen O'Brien +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a single-phase multiferroic complex oxide was doped with varying concentrations of Fe in order to assess the effect on magnetic and dielectric behavior, and four substituted variations were synthesized: BaMn3−xFexTi4O14+δ (BMFT) with x = 1, 1.5, 2, and 2.25.
