Bulk changes in posterior scleral collagen microstructure in human high myopia.
Petar Markov,Ashkan Eliasy,Jacek K. Pijanka,Hla Myint Htoon,Neil G. Paterson,Thomas Sorensen,Ahmed Elsheikh,Ahmed Elsheikh,Ahmed Elsheikh,Michael J A Girard,Craig Boote,Craig Boote +11 more
TL;DR: Bulk alterations in the normal posterior sCleral collagen microstructure occur in human eyes with high myopia, which could reflect remodeling of the posterior sclera during axial lengthening and/or a mechanical adaption to tissue stresses induced by fluid pressure or eye movements that may be exacerbated in enlarged eyes.

Structural basis for the neutralization of SARS-CoV-2 by an antibody from a convalescent patient

TL;DR: An antibody, EY6A, is isolated from a late-stage COVID-19 patient and it neutralises Sars-CoV-2 and cross-reacts with SARS- CoV-1 and is shown to bind what is probably a major neutralising epitope, making it a candidate therapeutic for CO VID-19.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mass spectrometry analysis and transcriptome sequencing reveal glowing squid crystal proteins are in the same superfamily as firefly luciferase
TL;DR: It is proposed that wsluc1–3 form a complex that crystallises inside the squid photophores, and that in the crystal one or more of the proteins catalyses the production of light using coelenterazine disulfate and ATP.
Book ChapterDOI
Application of In Situ Diffraction in High-Throughput Structure Determination Platforms
Pierre Aller,Juan Sanchez-Weatherby,James Foadi,Graeme Winter,C.M.C. Lobley,Danny Axford,Alun W. Ashton,Domenico Bellini,José Brandão-Neto,Simone Culurgioni,Alice Douangamath,Ramona Duman,Gwyndaf Evans,Stuart Fisher,Ralf Flaig,David R. Warren,Mark Williams,David I. Stuart,Martin A. Walsh +30 more
TL;DR: A short overview of the emerging use of collecting X-ray diffraction data directly from the crystallization experiment and a practical guide to the use of the method on the MX suite of beamlines at Diamond Light Source is given.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of the proline-utilization pathway in Mycobacterium tuberculosis through structural and functional studies.
Thomas Lagautriere,Ghader Bashiri,Neil G. Paterson,Michael Berney,Gregory M. Cook,Edward N. Baker +5 more
TL;DR: Functional validation using a novel NMR approach has demonstrated that the PruA and PruB enzymes are together sufficient to convert proline to glutamate, the first such demonstration for monofunctional proline-utilization enzymes.
