Journal ArticleDOI

Physical Activity, Air Pollution, and the Risk of Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

TL;DR: Increased exposure to air pollution during exercise does not outweigh beneficial effects of physical activity on the risk of asthma and COPD, and interaction terms between each physical activity and NO2 are introduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

An air pollution model for use in epidemiological studies: evaluation with measured levels of nitrogen dioxide and benzene.

TL;DR: The results indicate that the OSPM used with the presented methods for generation of input data might be useful in assessing long-term exposure to air pollutants in epidemiological studies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Long-term exposure to low ambient air pollution concentrations and mortality among 28 million people: results from seven large European cohorts within the ELAPSE project.

TL;DR: In this article , the authors analyzed associations between low-level air pollution and mortality within the multicentre study Effects of Low-Level Air Pollution: A Study in Europe (ELAPSE) within seven population-based cohorts of adults within ELAPSE, from Belgium, Denmark, England, the Netherlands, Norway, Rome (Italy), and Switzerland (enrolled in 2000-11; follow-up until 2011-17).
Journal ArticleDOI

Combinations of polymorphisms in XPD, XPC and XPA in relation to risk of lung cancer.

TL;DR: It is found that XPA A23G andXPC Lys939Gln polymorphisms may be risk factors for lung cancer and evidence that positive interactions between the polymorphisms in XPA/XPD and XPC/X PD may occur is found.
Journal ArticleDOI

GPX1 Pro198Leu polymorphism, interactions with smoking and alcohol consumption, and risk for lung cancer.

TL;DR: The role of the GPX1 (Pro198Leu, rs1050450) polymorphism and interactions with external exposures in the development of lung cancer is examined and stronger associations between several smoking variables and alcohol intake and lung cancer risk among GPx1(TT) carriers than among GP X1(CC) and GPX 1(CT) carriers are found.
