Journal ArticleDOI
Strong interplay between stripe spin fluctuations, nematicity and superconductivity in FeSe
Qisi Wang,Yao Shen,Bingying Pan,Yiqing Hao,Mingwei Ma,Fang Zhou,P. Steffens,Karin Schmalzl,Thomas Forrest,Mahmoud Abdel-Hafiez,Xiao-Jia Chen,Dmitriy A. Chareev,Alexander N. Vasiliev,Alexander N. Vasiliev,Alexander N. Vasiliev,P. Bourges,Yvan Sidis,Huibo Cao,Jun Zhao +18 more
TL;DR: The results support recent theoretical proposals that both nematicity and superconductivity are driven by spin fluctuations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spinon Fermi surface in a triangular lattice quantum spin liquid YbMgGaO4
Yao Shen,Yaodong Li,Hongliang Wo,Yuesheng Li,Shoudong Shen,Bingying Pan,Qisi Wang,Helen Walker,P. Steffens,Martin Boehm,Yiqing Hao,D. L. Quintero-Castro,Leland Weldon Harriger,Lijie Hao,Siqin Meng,Qingming Zhang,Gang Chen,Jun Zhao +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported neutron scattering measurements that reveal broad spin excitations covering a wide region of the Brillouin zone in an extremely clean antiferromagnet YbMgGaO4.
Journal ArticleDOI
Strong Interplay between Stripe Spin Fluctuations, Nematicity and Superconductivity in FeSe
Qisi Wang,Yao Shen,Bingying Pan,Yiqing Hao,Mingwei Ma,Fang Zhou,P. Steffens,Karin Schmalzl,Thomas Forrest,Mahmoud Abdel-Hafiez,Dmitriy A. Chareev,Alexander N. Vasiliev,P. Bourges,Yvan Sidis,Huibo Cao,Jun Zhao +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used neutron scattering to study structurally the simplest iron-based superconductor FeSe, which displays a nematic (orthorhombic) phase transition at $T_s=90$ K, but does not order antiferromagnetically.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spin and orbital order in the vanadium spinel MgV 2 O 4
E. M. Wheeler,Bella Lake,Bella Lake,A. T. M. Nazmul Islam,Manfred Reehuis,P. Steffens,Tatiana Guidi,Adrian H. Hill +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the frustrated spinel has been shown to possess highly coupled spin, lattice, and orbital degrees of freedom using large single crystal and powder samples, and a distortion from spinel at room temperature (space group $F\overline{4}3m$) which allows for a greater trigonal distortion of the octahedra and a low-temperature space group that maintains the mirror plane symmetry.
Journal ArticleDOI
Commensurate antiferromagnetic excitations as a signature of the pseudogap in the tetragonal high-Tc cuprate HgBa2CuO4+δ
Mun Chan,Mun Chan,Chelsey Dorow,Chelsey Dorow,L. Mangin-Thro,Yang Tang,Y. Ge,Y. Ge,M. J. Veit,M. J. Veit,G. Yu,X. Zhao,X. Zhao,Andrew D. Christianson,Jitae Park,Yvan Sidis,P. Steffens,Douglas L. Abernathy,P. Bourges,Martin Greven +19 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used neutron scattering on the tetragonal cuprate HgBa2CuO4+δ revealing commensurate antiferromagnetic excitations as a signature of the pseudogap state.
