An RNA-Sequencing Transcriptome and Splicing Database of Glia, Neurons, and Vascular Cells of the Cerebral Cortex
Ye Zhang,Kenian Chen,Steven A. Sloan,Mariko L. Bennett,Anja R. Scholze,Sean O'Keeffe,Hemali Phatnani,Paolo Guarnieri,Christine Caneda,Nadine Ruderisch,Shuyun Deng,Shane A. Liddelow,Chaolin Zhang,Richard Daneman,Tom Maniatis,Ben A. Barres,Jian Qian Wu +16 more
TL;DR: The authors' data provide clues as to how neurons and astrocytes differ in their ability to dynamically regulate glycolytic flux and lactate generation attributable to unique splicing of PKM2, the gene encoding the glycoleytic enzyme pyruvate kinase.
Journal ArticleDOI
An extensive microRNA-mediated network of RNA-RNA interactions regulates established oncogenic pathways in glioblastoma.
Pavel Sumazin,Xuerui Yang,Hua-Sheng Chiu,Wei-Jen Chung,Archana Iyer,David Llobet-Navas,Presha Rajbhandari,Mukesh Bansal,Paolo Guarnieri,Jose M. Silva,Andrea Califano +10 more
TL;DR: SiRNA silencing of 13 miR-mediated PTEN regulators was sufficient to downregulate PTEN in a 3'UTR-dependent manner and to increase tumor cell growth rates, providing a mechanistic, experimentally validated rationale for the loss of PTEN expression in a large number of glioma samples with an intact PTEN locus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Early-stage epigenetic modification during somatic cell reprogramming by Parp1 and Tet2
Claudia A. Doege,Keiichi Inoue,Toru Yamashita,David B. Rhee,Skylar Travis,Ryousuke Fujita,Paolo Guarnieri,Govind Bhagat,William B. Vanti,Alan Shih,Ross L. Levine,Sara Nik,Emily I. Chen,Asa Abeliovich +13 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that Parp1 and Tet2 contribute to an epigenetic program that directs subsequent transcriptional induction at pluripotency loci during somatic cell reprogramming.
Journal ArticleDOI
Glioblastoma models reveal the connection between adult glial progenitors and the proneural phenotype
Liang Lei,Adam M. Sonabend,Paolo Guarnieri,Craig R. Soderquist,Thomas Ludwig,Steven S. Rosenfeld,Jeffrey N. Bruce,Peter Canoll +7 more
TL;DR: Insight is offered into the relationship between adult glial progenitors and Proneural GBM, and molecular alterations that lead to more aggressive tumor growth are identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Distinct roles for motor neuron autophagy early and late in the SOD1G93A mouse model of ALS
Noam D. Rudnick,Noam D. Rudnick,Christopher J. Griffey,Paolo Guarnieri,Valeria Gerbino,Xueyong Wang,Jason A. Piersaint,Juan Carlos Tapia,Mark M. Rich,Tom Maniatis,Tom Maniatis +10 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that motor neuron autophagy is required to maintain neuromuscular innervation early in disease but eventually acts in a non–cell-autonomous manner to promote disease progression.
