Remote sensing of aerosols over land surfaces from POLDER-ADEOS-1 polarized measurements
Jean-Luc Deuzé,François-Marie Bréon,C. Devaux,Philippe Goloub,Maurice Herman,Bruno Lafrance,Fabienne Maignan,A. Marchand,F. Nadal,G. Perry,Didier Tanré +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an aerosol index defined as the product AI = δα 0 is proposed for remote sensing of aerosols over land surfaces, which can systematically correct for the ground contribution whereas the classical approach using natural light fails.
Journal ArticleDOI
Columnar aerosol optical properties at AERONET sites in central eastern Asia and aerosol transport to the tropical mid‐Pacific
Thomas F. Eck,Thomas F. Eck,Brent N. Holben,Oleg Dubovik,Oleg Dubovik,Alexander Smirnov,Alexander Smirnov,Philippe Goloub,Hongjin Chen,Bernadette Chatenet,L. Gomes,Xiaoye Zhang,Si-Chee Tsay,Qiang Ji,David M. Giles,Ilya Slutsker +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, the column-integrated optical properties of aerosol in the central eastern region of Asia and mid-tropical Pacific were investigated based on Sun/sky radiometer measurements made at Aerosol Robotic Network (AERONET) sites in these regions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Climatological aspects of the optical properties of fine/coarse mode aerosol mixtures
Thomas F. Eck,Thomas F. Eck,Brent N. Holben,Aliaksandyr Sinyuk,Rachel T. Pinker,Philippe Goloub,Hongbin Chen,B. Chatenet,Zhanqing Li,Ramesh P. Singh,Sachchida Nand Tripathi,Jeffrey S. Reid,David M. Giles,Oleg Dubovik,Norman T. O'Neill,Alexander Smirnov,Pucai Wang,Xiangao Xia +17 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the spectral variation of the averaged aerosol absorption optical depth was nearly linear in logarithmic coordinates over the wavelength range of 440-870 nm for both the Kanpur and Ilorin sites.
Journal ArticleDOI
Column aerosol optical properties and aerosol radiative forcing during a serious haze-fog month over North China Plain in 2013 based on ground-based sunphotometer measurements
Huizheng Che,Xiangao Xia,J. Zhu,Zhengqiang Li,Oleg Dubovik,Brent N. Holben,Philippe Goloub,Huansheng Chen,Victor Estellés,Emilio Cuevas-Agulló,Luc Blarel,Hong Wang,Hujia Zhao,Xiaoye Zhang,Yuhang Wang,J. Sun,R. Tao,Gaoquan Shi +17 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used Cimel sunphotometer measurements at seven sites over rural, suburban and urban regions of North China Plain from 1 to 30 January 2013 were used to further understand of spatial-temporal variation of aerosol optical parameters and aerosol radiative forcing (ARF).
Journal ArticleDOI
Maritime Aerosol Network as a component of Aerosol Robotic Network
Alexander Smirnov,Brent N. Holben,Ilya Slutsker,David M. Giles,Charles R. McClain,Thomas F. Eck,Thomas F. Eck,Sergey M. Sakerin,Andreas Macke,Peter Croot,Giuseppe Zibordi,Patricia K. Quinn,Jean Sciare,S. Kinne,Mike Harvey,Timothy J Smyth,Stuart Piketh,Tymon Zielinski,Andrey Proshutinsky,Joachim I. Goes,Norman B. Nelson,Pierre Larouche,Vladimir F. Radionov,Philippe Goloub,K. Krishna Moorthy,R. Matarrese,E. J. Robertson,Frédéric Jourdin +27 more
TL;DR: The current status of the Maritime Aerosol Network (MAN), which has been developed as a component of the AERONET, is presented in this paper. But the authors do not provide a detailed analysis of the data collected.
