Online Convex Optimization of Multi-Energy Building-to-Grid Ancillary Services

TL;DR: A novel penalty-based OCO algorithm for time-varying constraints is developed and is shown to satisfy all constraints 97.32% of the time while attaining a positive net revenue at the end of the day by providing ancillary services to the power grid.
Journal ArticleDOI

Power system stability in the transition to a low carbon grid: A techno-economic perspective on challenges and opportunities

TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive overview of emerging power system stability challenges posed by PEC-interfaced renewable energy sources and DER, particularly related to low inertia and low system strength conditions, is provided.
Journal ArticleDOI

System-Level Operational and Adequacy Impact Assessment of Photovoltaic and Distributed Energy Storage, with Consideration of Inertial Constraints, Dynamic Reserve and Interconnection Flexibility

TL;DR: In this article, the system-level impacts of solar photovoltaic (PV) and distributed energy storage (DES) technologies are assessed from both operational and adequacy perspectives.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Assessing the benefits of coordinated operation of aggregated distributed Multi-energy Generation

TL;DR: A mixed integer linear programming (MILP) algorithm for modeling operational behavior of aggregated district multi-energy generation units and the resulting aggregated generation portfolio can be seen as a city-level Multi-Energy Virtual Power Plant (MEVPP).
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Seismic resilience assessment and adaptation of the Northern Chilean power system

TL;DR: A resilience assessment and adaptation framework is applied to the Northern Chilean electric power system in the context of its exposure to seismic events and compares three resilience adaptation strategies in terms of their expected energy annual loss and the return period of different levels of network performance.
