Journal ArticleDOI
Small Vessel Disease, a Marker of Brain Health: What the Radiologist Needs to Know.
Abdelkader Mahammedi,Lily L Wang,B.J. Williamson,Pooja Khatri,Brett M. Kissela,R.P. Sawyer,Rhonna Shatz,V. Khandwala,Achala Vagal +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss the pathophysiology of small vessel disease neuroimaging nomenclature by means of the STRIVE criteria, clinical implications, the role of advanced imaging, and future directions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regional and national differences in stroke thrombolysis use and disparities in pricing, treatment availability, and coverage
Ana Cláudia de Souza,Ivy Sebastian,Wan Asyraf Wan Zaidi,Ahmed Nasreldein,Danira Bazadona,Pablo Amaya,Ahmed Elkady,Meron Awraris Gebrewold,Pongpat Vorasayan,Nune S. Yeghiazaryan,Patrik Michel,Pooja Khatri,Jeyaraj D Pandian,Sheila Cristina Ouriques Martins,Werner Hacke,Vasileios-Arsenios Lioutas +15 more
TL;DR: Concerted efforts to improve rtPA affordability in low-income settings are necessary, as relative costs are higher in lower income countries, exceeding the available HE.
Journal ArticleDOI
Outcome Differences between Intra-Arterial Iso- and Low-Osmolality Iodinated Radiographic Contrast Media in the Interventional Management of Stroke III Trial.
Thomas A. Tomsick,Lydia D. Foster,David S Liebeskind,Michael D. Hill,J. Carrozella,Mayank Goyal,R. von Kummer,Andrew M. Demchuk,Imanuel Dzialowski,Volker Puetz,Tudor G Jovin,Humberto Morales,Yuko Y. Palesch,Joseph P. Broderick,Pooja Khatri,Sharon D. Yeatts,Ims Iii Investigators +16 more
TL;DR: While data favoring the use of iso-osmolal iodixanol for reperfusion of M1 occlusion following IV rtPA are inconclusive, potential pathophysiologic mechanisms suggesting clinical benefit warrant further investigation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk of Thrombolysis-Associated Intracerebral Hemorrhage: The Need to Compare Apples With Apples
TL;DR: Both this study and the pilot study of desmoteplase within 3 to 9 hours clearly demonstrate that higher doses of thrombolytic agents have increased rates of symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage (sICH).
Journal Article
Abstract 30: The Frailty Index: A Novel Predictor Of Stroke Outcomes
Sulsal Haque,Mathew J. Reeves,Heidi Sucharew,Kathleen Alwell,Charles J Moomaw,Daniel Woo,Matthew L. Flaherty,Pooja Khatri,Opeolu Adeoye,Simona Ferioli,Dawn Kleindorfer,Brett M. Kissela +11 more
TL;DR: Frailty was associated with increased in-hospital mortality, poorer outcome at discharge (mRS≥3) and decreased likelihood of being discharged home, which suggest that frailty may represent a biological rather than chronological measure of aging.
