Journal ArticleDOI
Selection of patients for intra-arterial treatment for acute ischaemic stroke: development and validation of a clinical decision tool in two randomised trials
Esmee Venema,Maxim J. H. L. Mulder,Bob Roozenbeek,Joseph P. Broderick,Sharon D. Yeatts,Pooja Khatri,Olvert A. Berkhemer,Olvert A. Berkhemer,Bart J. Emmer,Yvo B.W.E.M. Roos,Charles B. L. M. Majoie,Robert J. van Oostenbrugge,Wim H. van Zwam,Aad van der Lugt,Ewout W. Steyerberg,Ewout W. Steyerberg,Diederik W.J. Dippel,Hester F. Lingsma +17 more
TL;DR: The proposed clinical decision tool combines multiple baseline clinical and radiological characteristics and shows large variations in treatment benefit between patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of Interval Times From Onset to Reperfusion in Patients Undergoing Endovascular Therapy in the Interventional Management of Stroke III Trial
Mayank Goyal,Mohammed A. Almekhlafi,Liqiong Fan,Bijoy K Menon,Andrew M. Demchuk,Sharon D. Yeatts,Michael D. Hill,Thomas A. Tomsick,Pooja Khatri,Osama O. Zaidat,Edward C. Jauch,Muneer Eesa,Tudor G Jovin,Joseph P. Broderick +13 more
TL;DR: Important delays were identified before reperfusion in the IMS III trial and use of CT angiography and endovascular treatment in the same center were associated with time savings, which may help in optimizing work flow in current and future endov vascular trials.
Journal ArticleDOI
Collateral Clock Is More Important Than Time Clock for Tissue Fate
Achala Vagal,Richard I. Aviv,Heidi Sucharew,Mahati Reddy,Qinghua Hou,Patrik Michel,Tudor G Jovin,Thomas A. Tomsick,Max Wintermark,Pooja Khatri +9 more
TL;DR: In this natural history study, penumbral salvage and infarct growth were less time dependent and more a measure of collateral flow.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of General Anesthesia on Safety and Outcomes in the Endovascular Arm of Interventional Management of Stroke (IMS) III Trial
Alex Abou-Chebl,Sharon D Yeatts,Bernard Yan,Kevin M. Cockroft,Mayank Goyal,Tudor G. Jovin,Pooja Khatri,P. M. Meyers,Judith Spilker,Rebecca M. Sugg,Katja E. Wartenberg,Thomas A. Tomsick,Joseph P. Broderick,Michael D. Hill +13 more
TL;DR: General anesthesia was associated with worse neurological outcomes and increased mortality in the EVT arm; this was primarily true among patients with medical indications for GA, and data support the use of local anesthesia when possible during EVT.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acute stroke imaging research roadmap III imaging selection and outcomes in acute stroke reperfusion clinical trials: consensus recommendations and further research priorities
Steven Warach,Marie Luby,Gregory W. Albers,Roland Bammer,Andrew Bivard,Bruce C.V. Campbell,Colin P. Derdeyn,Jeremy J Heit,Pooja Khatri,Maarten G Lansberg,David S Liebeskind,Charles B. L. M. Majoie,Michael P. Marks,Bijoy K Menon,Keith W. Muir,Mark W Parsons,Achala Vagal,Albert J Yoo,Andrei V. Alexandrov,Jean-Claude Baron,David Fiorella,Anthony J. Furlan,Josep Puig,Peter D. Schellinger,Max Wintermark +24 more
TL;DR: This forum brought together stroke neurologists, neuroradiologists, neuroimaging research scientists, industry representatives, and members of the US Food and Drug Administration to discuss STIR priorities in the light of an unprecedented series of positive acute stroke endovascular therapy clinical trials.
