Maximum likelihood estimates of admixture in northeastern Mexico using 13 short tandem repeat loci

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provided allelic distributions of the tetrameric short tandem repeat (STR) polymorphisms in 143 Mestizos from Northeastern Mexico and compared them with D1S80 and HLA-DQA1 (n = 103).
Journal ArticleDOI

Distribution of three HIV-1 resistance-conferring polymorphisms (SDF1-3'A, CCR2-641, and CCR5-delta32) in global populations.

TL;DR: This survey shows that the substantial allele frequency differences of each of these mutations translate into an extensive variation in relative hazards for AIDS in worldwide populations, however, no evidence of natural selection against the mutant gene carriers is detected.
Book

Genomic diversity : applications in human population genetics

TL;DR: This book discusses the use of Y-Chromosomal DNA Variation to Investigate Population History: Recent Male Spread in Asia and Europe, and a Mitochondrial DNA Database: Applications to Problems of Nomenclature and Population Genetics.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interactions Between Noncontiguous Haplotypes in the Adiponectin Gene ACDC Are Associated With Plasma Adiponectin

TL;DR: Variants of ACDC are associated with adiponectin levels in whites and African Americans, and interactions between noncontiguous ACDC haplotypes strongly influence adiponECTin levels, suggesting nonadditive and potentially cis relationships between these regions.
