Factors affecting runoff and soil erosion: plot-level soil loss monitoring for assessing sustainability of forest management

TL;DR: In this article, an assessment on key ecological factors affecting runoff and soil erosion and the usefulness of plot-level monitoring of soil erosion was conducted by collecting runoff data from 14 runoff plots.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multiple criteria decision making approaches to assessing forest sustainability using criteria and indicators: a case study

TL;DR: Three techniques called ranking, rating, and pairwise comparisons are described and used within the framework of a generic set of criteria and indicators applied in a case study involving a forest concession in Kalimantan, Indonesia, indicating that these techniques are effective tools both for selecting sets of criterion and indicators and eventually for prioritizing them.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessing the Performance of Natural Resource Systems

TL;DR: This work proposes a framework for assessing system performance using indicators from the sustainable-livelihoods perspective, and develops an Integrated Interpretation of the Indicators.
Journal ArticleDOI

Qualitative multi-criteria approaches to assessing indicators of sustainable forest resource management

TL;DR: A soft methodology is presented, called cognitive mapping, which can be used to assess the cross-indicator interaction, linkages, and connectivities of the indicators, and attempts to evaluate the overall cumulative impacts of all indicators as they impact sustainability directly and indirectly through their interactions with other indicators.
