Accuracy of shock index versus ABC score to predict need for massive transfusion in trauma patients
Rebecca Schroll,David Swift,Danielle Tatum,Stuart Couch,Jiselle Bock Heaney,Monica Llado-Farrulla,Shana M. Zucker,Frances Gill,Griffin Brown,Nicholas Buffin,Juan Duchesne +10 more
TL;DR: ABC score and Shock Index can both be used to predict need for massive transfusion in trauma patients, however SI is more sensitive and requires less technical skill than ABC score.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prehospital tourniquet use in penetrating extremity trauma: Decreased blood transfusions and limb complications.
Alison Smith,Joana E. Ochoa,Sunnie Wong,Sydney Beatty,Jeffrey M. Elder,Chrissy Guidry,Patrick McGrew,Clifton McGinness,Juan Duchesne,Rebecca Schroll +9 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that prehospital tourniquet use could be safely used to control bleeding in major extremity penetrating trauma with no increased risk of major complications and may lead to improved long-term outcomes and increased survival in trauma patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
