Beneficial effect of alanine on metabolic recovery of fasted livers submitted to cold ischemia.

TL;DR: The conclusion reached was that the lower pyruvate dehydrogenase activity of livers from fasted mice relatively to that from fed mice could be compensated for by the greater pyruVate concentration provided by alanine for the initial production of NTP after cold ischemia and warm reperfusion.
Journal ArticleDOI

High trough levels of everolimus combined to sorafenib improve patients survival after hepatocellular carcinoma recurrence in liver transplant recipients.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors performed a study on 306 patients who underwent liver transplantation for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and found that the combination of sorafenib and everolimus was an independent predictor for better survival after HCC recurrence.
Journal ArticleDOI

Serial volumetric assessment of large for size liver grafts after whole cadaveric liver transplant in adults: do large liver grafts shrink in size?

TL;DR: There was a tendency, but none significant; towards a higher bilirubin, AST, ALT levels over the first postoperative days in recipients with GRWR > 3, and grafts weighing >3% of the GRWR show a different trend towards decrease in size over time.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cross-Talk Between Sirtuin 1 and High-Mobility Box 1 in Steatotic Liver Graft Preservation

TL;DR: Elevated SIRT1 and enhanced autophagy were found after reperfusion in steatotic livers preserved in I GL-1+TMZ when compared with IGL-1, consistent with decreased liver injury diminution, ameliorated hepatic function, and decreased TNF-α and HMGB levels.
