Global patterns of tropical forest fragmentation

TL;DR: Almost 130 million forest fragments in three continents are identified that show surprisingly similar power-law size and perimeter distributions as well as fractal dimensions, suggesting that forest fragmentation is close to the critical point of percolation.
Journal ArticleDOI

High resolution analysis of tropical forest fragmentation and its impact on the global carbon cycle

TL;DR: High-resolution satellite maps of forest cover with estimates of the edge effect show that 19% of the remaining area of tropical forests lies within 100 m of a forest edge, representing 31% of currently estimated annual carbon releases due to tropical deforestation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Aboveground biomass density models for NASA’s Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation (GEDI) lidar mission

Laura Duncanson, +116 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors present the development of the models used to create GEDI's footprint-level (~25 m) AGBD (GEDI04_A) product, including a description of the datasets used and the procedure for final model selection.
