Jason S. McLellan,Marie Pancera,Chris Carrico,Jason Gorman,Jean-Philippe Julien,Reza Khayat,Robert K. Louder,Robert Pejchal,Mallika Sastry,Kaifan Dai,Sijy O'Dell,Nikita Patel,Syed Shahzad-ul-Hussan,Yongping Yang,Baoshan Zhang,Tongqing Zhou,Jiang Zhu,Jeffrey C. Boyington,Gwo-Yu Chuang,Devan Diwanji,Ivelin S. Georgiev,Young Do Kwon,Doyung Lee,Mark K. Louder,Stephanie Moquin,Stephen D. Schmidt,Zhi Yong Yang,Mattia Bonsignori,John A. Crump,John A. Crump,Saidi Kapiga,Noel E. Sam,Barton F. Haynes,Dennis R. Burton,Dennis R. Burton,Wayne C. Koff,Laura M. Walker,Sanjay Phogat,Richard T. Wyatt,Jared Orwenyo,Lai-Xi Wang,James Arthos,Carole A. Bewley,John R. Mascola,Gary J. Nabel,William R. Schief,William R. Schief,Andrew B. Ward,Ian A. Wilson,Peter D. Kwong +49 more
TL;DR: The structure of V1/V2 in complex with PG9 is reported, identifying a paradigm of antibody recognition for highly glycosylated antigens, which—with PG9—involves a site of vulnerability comprising just two glycans and a strand.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure of promoter-bound TFIID and model of human pre-initiation complex assembly
Robert K. Louder,Yuan He,Yuan He,Yuan He,José Ramón López-Blanco,Jie Fang,Pablo Chacón,Eva Nogales,Eva Nogales +8 more
TL;DR: Superposition of common elements between the two structures provides novel insights into the general role of TFIID in promoter recognition, PIC assembly, and transcription initiation.
ComponentDOI
Structure of human TFIID and mechanism of TBP loading onto promoter DNA.
Avinash B Patel,Avinash B Patel,Robert K. Louder,Robert K. Louder,Basil J. Greber,Basil J. Greber,Sebastian Grünberg,Jie Luo,Jie Fang,Yutong Liu,Jeff Ranish,Steve Hahn,Eva Nogales +12 more
TL;DR: This work used cryo-electron microscopy, chemical crosslinking-mass spectrometry and biochemical reconstitution to determine the complete molecular architecture of TFIID and define the conformational landscape of T FIID in the process of TATA-box binding protein (TBP) loading onto promoter DNA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural Insights into the Eukaryotic Transcription Initiation Machinery
TL;DR: Cryo-electron microscopy has made possible the visualization of large PIC assemblies in different functional states, and these structures can now be interpreted in near-atomic detail and provide an exciting structural framework for past and future functional studies, giving us unique mechanistic insight into the complex process of transcription initiation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural Definition of an Antibody-Dependent Cellular Cytotoxicity Response Implicated in Reduced Risk for HIV-1 Infection.
Priyamvada Acharya,William D. Tolbert,Neelakshi Gohain,Xueji Wu,Lei Yu,Tongyun Liu,Wensheng Huang,Chih-chin Huang,Young Do Kwon,Robert K. Louder,Timothy S. Luongo,Jason S. McLellan,Marie Pancera,Yongping Yang,Baoshan Zhang,Robin Flinko,James S. Foulke,Mohammad M. Sajadi,Roberta Kamin-Lewis,James E. Robinson,Loïc Martin,Peter D. Kwong,Yongjun Guan,Anthony L. DeVico,George K. Lewis,Marzena Pazgier +25 more
TL;DR: The first atomic-level definition of nonneutralizing CD4-induced epitopes in the N-terminal region of the HIV-1 gp120 (A32-like epitopes) is provided, pointing to the dominant role of precise epitope targeting and mode of antibody attachment in ADCC responses even when largely overlapping epitopes are involved.
