Journal ArticleDOI
Designing clinical trials in paediatric inflammatory bowel diseases: a PIBDnet commentary.
Dan Turner,Anne M. Griffiths,David C. Wilson,Diane R. Mould,Robert N. Baldassano,Richard K. Russell,Marla Dubinsky,Melvin B. Heyman,Lissy de Ridder,Jeffrey S. Hyams,Javier Martín de Carpi,Laurie S. Conklin,William A. Faubion,Sibylle Koletzko,Athos Bousvaros,Frank M. Ruemmele,Frank M. Ruemmele,Frank M. Ruemmele +17 more
TL;DR: Advice from the global clinical research network (Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Network, PIBDnet) for designing clinical trials in P IBD in order to facilitate drug approval for children is provided.
Journal ArticleDOI
A de novo whole gene deletion of XIAP detected by exome sequencing analysis in very early onset inflammatory bowel disease: a case report
Judith R. Kelsen,Noor Dawany,Alejuandro Martinez,Christopher M. Grochowski,Kelly Maurer,Eric F. Rappaport,David A. Piccoli,Robert N. Baldassano,Petar Mamula,Kathleen E. Sullivan,Marcella Devoto +10 more
TL;DR: This is the first reported whole gene deletion in XIAP, the causal gene responsible for XLP2 (X-linked lymphoproliferative Disease 2), a syndrome resulting in VEO-IBD and can increase susceptibility to hemophagocytic lymphohistocytosis (HLH).
Journal ArticleDOI
Efficacy of oral methotrexate in paediatric Crohn’s disease: a multicentre propensity score study
Dan Turner,Etti Doveh,Ayala Cohen,Michelle Wilson,Andrew B. Grossman,Joel R. Rosh,Ying Lu,Athos Bousvaros,Colette Deslandres,Angela Noble,Robert N. Baldassano,Arie Levine,Aaron Lerner,David C. Wilson,Anne M. Griffiths +14 more
TL;DR: In this largest paediatric CD cohort to date, SC administered MTX was superior to PO, but only in some of the outcomes and with a modest effect size; it may be reasonable to consider switching children in complete remission treated with subcutaneous MTX to the oral route with close monitoring of inflammatory markers and growth.
Journal ArticleDOI
Terminal ileum intubation in pediatric colonoscopy and diagnostic value of conventional small bowel contrast radiography in pediatric inflammatory bowel disease.
TL;DR: A normal small bowel radiography alone should not be used to rule out pediatricinflammatory bowel disease when the symptoms suggest it, and Colonoscopy with terminal ileal intubation is feasible and safe; it should be attempted in all children with symptoms consistent with inflammatory bowel disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Growth hormone treatment for growth failure in pediatric patients with Crohn's disease.
Melvin B. Heyman,Elizabeth A. Garnett,Janet M. Wojcicki,Neera Gupta,Cheryl A. Davis,Stanley A. Cohen,Benjamin D. Gold,Barbara S. Kirschner,Robert N. Baldassano,George D. Ferry,Harland S. Winter,S. L. Kaplan +11 more
TL;DR: GH treatment increases height velocity and may enhance bone mineralization in children with CD and a randomized controlled trial in a large cohort of children is needed to evaluate the ultimate impact of GH treatment.
