Chengrui Huang,Talin Haritunians,David T. Okou,David J. Cutler,Michael E. Zwick,Kent D. Taylor,Lisa W. Datta,Joseph C. Maranville,Zhenqiu Liu,Shannon E. Ellis,Pankaj Chopra,Jonathan Steven Alexander,Robert N. Baldassano,Raymond K. Cross,Themistocles Dassopoulos,Tanvi Dhere,Richard H. Duerr,John S. Hanson,Jason K. Hou,Sunny Z. Hussain,Kim L. TL;DR: In a genetic analysis of 3308 AA IBD cases and controls, it was found that many variants associated with IBD in Caucasians also showed association evidence with these diseases in AAs; the complex genetic factors that determine risk for or protection against I BD in different populations require further study.
Journal ArticleDOI
Azathioprine and 6-mercaptopurine for the treatment of perianal Crohn's disease in children.
W C Jeshion,Kelly L. Larsen,Abbas F. Jawad,David A. Piccoli,Ritu Verma,Eric S. Maller,Robert N. Baldassano +6 more
TL;DR: AZA and 6-MP are effective treatments for healing significant perianal Crohn's disease in pediatrics, and the improvement in drainage and tenderness was statistically significant.
Journal ArticleDOI
Experiences with 6-mercaptopurine and azathioprine therapy in pediatric patients with severe ulcerative colitis.
TL;DR: The data support the safety of 6-mercaptopurine and azathioprine use in the treatment of pediatric patients with ulcerative colitis; side effects were minimal and reversible.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic sharing and heritability of paediatric age of onset autoimmune diseases
Yun Li,Sihai Dave Zhao,Jin Li,Jonathan P. Bradfield,Maede Mohebnasab,Laura Steel,Julie Kobie,Debra J. Abrams,Frank D. Mentch,Joseph T. Glessner,Yiran Guo,Zhi Wei,Zhi Wei,John Connolly,Christopher J. Luning Prak,Justine A. Ellis,Hongzhe Li,Brendan J. Keating,Hakon Hakonarson +63 more
TL;DR: The results partition contributions of shared versus disease-specific genomic variations to pAID heritability, identifying pAIDs with unexpected risk sharing, while recapitulating known associations between autoimmune diseases previously reported in adult cohorts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of Variants of the Interleukin-23 Receptor Gene With Susceptibility to Pediatric Crohn’s Disease
Robert N. Baldassano,Jonathan P. Bradfield,Dimitri S. Monos,Cecilia E. Kim,Joseph T. Glessner,Tracy Casalunovo,Edward C. Frackelton,F. George Otieno,Stathis Kanterakis,Julie L. Shaner,Ryan M. TL;DR: Variants in the IL23R gene confer a similar magnitude of risk of CD to children as for their adult counterparts, and is highly comparable with that reported previously in a non-Jewish adult inflammatory bowel disease case-control cohort.
