Journal ArticleDOI
Nearly room temperature ferromagnetism in a magnetic metal-rich van der Waals metal.
Junho Seo,Duck Young Kim,Eun Su An,Kyoo Kim,Gi-Yeop Kim,Soo-Yoon Hwang,Dong-Wook Kim,Bo Gyu Jang,Heejung Kim,Gyeongsik Eom,Seung Young Seo,Roland Stania,Matthias Muntwiler,Jinwon Lee,Kenji Watanabe,Takashi Taniguchi,Younjung Jo,Jieun Lee,Byung Il Min,Moon-Ho Jo,Han Woong Yeom,Si-Young Choi,Ji Hoon Shim,Jun Sung Kim +23 more
TL;DR: These findings highlight Fe4GeTe2 and its nanometer-thick crystals as a promising candidate for spin source operation at nearly room temperature and hold promise to further increase Tc in vdW ferromagnets by theory-guided material discovery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Surface science at the PEARL beamline of the Swiss Light Source
Matthias Muntwiler,Jun Zhang,Roland Stania,Roland Stania,Fumihiko Matsui,P. Oberta,P. Oberta,d Uwe Flechsig,Luc Patthey,Christoph Quitmann,Christoph Quitmann,Thilo Glatzel,Roland Widmer,Ernst Meyer,Thomas A. Jung,Thomas A. Jung,Philipp Aebi,Roman Fasel,Thomas Greber +18 more
TL;DR: The Photo-Emission and Atomic Resolution Laboratory is a new soft X-ray beamline at the Swiss Light Source for the study of surface structure using photoelectron diffraction and scanning tunneling microscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Surface aligned magnetic moments and hysteresis of an endohedral single-molecule magnet on a metal.
Rasmus Westerström,Rasmus Westerström,Anne-Christine Uldry,Roland Stania,Roland Stania,Jan Dreiser,Jan Dreiser,Cinthia Piamonteze,Matthias Muntwiler,Fumihiko Matsui,Fumihiko Matsui,Stefano Rusponi,Harald Brune,Shangfeng Yang,Alexey A. Popov,Bernd Büchner,Bernard Delley,Thomas Greber +17 more
TL;DR: From the measured hysteresis curves, it is estimated that the zero field remanence lifetime during x-ray exposure of a submonolayer to be about 30 seconds, and the x-Ray magnetic circular dichroism is also angle dependent and signals strong magnetocrystalline anisotropy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electrical Tuning of the Excitonic Insulator Ground State of Ta 2 NiSe 5
Keisuke Fukutani,Roland Stania,J. W. Jung,Eike F. Schwier,Kenya Shimada,Chang Il Kwon,Jun Sung Kim,Han Woong Yeom +7 more
TL;DR: The present study provides the foundation for the electrical tuning of the many-body quantum states in excitonic insulators.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detecting photoelectrons from spontaneously formed excitons
Keisuke Fukutani,Roland Stania,Chang Il Kwon,Jun Sung Kim,Ki Jeong Kong,Jae Young Kim,Han Woong Yeom +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, a symmetry-selective angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy reveals a characteristic excitonic feature above the transition temperature, which provides detailed properties of excitons, such as the anisotropic Bohr radius.
