Journal ArticleDOI

What does a one-month free bus ticket do to habitual drivers? An experimental analysis of habit and attitude change

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated whether a temporary structural change would induce a lasting increase in drivers' public transport use, and found that attitudes toward bus were more positive and the frequency of bus use increased, whereas the habits of using automobile decreased from before the intervention, even one month after the intervention period.
Journal ArticleDOI

Using stated preference data for studying the effect of advanced traffic information on drivers' route choice

TL;DR: The correlation among error components in repeated measurement data was addressed in this paper with individual-specific random error componentsIn a binary logit model with normal mixing distribution to underscore the significance of traffic information and the potential effect of advanced traveler information systems (ATIS) on route choice.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in Drivers’ Perceptions and Use of Public Transport during a Freeway Closure Effects of Temporary Structural Change on Cooperation in a Real-Life Social Dilemma

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated how cooperation can be facilitated in the real-world social dilemma of choosing to commute by automobile rather than by public transport and found that the frequency of switching to public transport during the closure of a freeway was inversely related to the frequency commuting before the closure, and that drivers who more frequently commuted by automobile overestimated their commuting time to a larger extent than did drivers who commuted less frequently by automobile.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Conceptual Analysis of the Impact of Travel Demand Management on Private Car Use

TL;DR: In this article, a conceptual framework is presented that may be utilized when analyzing changes in household travel arising from the range of potential measures available to policy makers, with its basis in goal setting and control theories.
Journal Article

Investigating effect of travel time variability on route choice using repeated-measurement stated preference data

TL;DR: In this article, a study was conducted to determine ways in which travel time variation affects route choice behavior and the potential interplay among travel time variations, traffic information acquisition, and route choice.
