A distinctive subset of PEComas harbors TFE3 gene fusions
Pedram Argani,Sebastian Aulmann,Peter B. Illei,George J. Netto,Jae Y. Ro,Hyun Yee Cho,Snjezana Dogan,Marc Ladanyi,Guido Martignoni,John R. Goldblum,Sharon W. Weiss +10 more
TL;DR: A subset of lesions currently classified as PEComas harbors TFE3 gene fusions, and distinctive features of these cases include a tendency to young age, the absence of association with tuberous sclerosis, predominant alveolar architecture and epithelioid cytology, minimal immunoreactivity for muscle markers, and strong (3+) T FE3 immunore activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular heterogeneity of TFE3 activation in renal cell carcinomas.
Stephan Macher-Goeppinger,Stephan Macher-Goeppinger,Wilfried Roth,Nina Wagener,Markus Hohenfellner,Roland Penzel,Axel Haferkamp,Peter Schirmacher,Sebastian Aulmann +8 more
TL;DR: Examination of TFE3 expression as well as the underlying genetic alterations in a large, hospital-based series of renal cell carcinomas with long-term follow-up information shows that Xp11 translocation renal cellcar carcinomas are uncommon tumours accounting for <1% of adult renalcell carcinomas and that the diagnosis of Xp 11 translocations renal cell cancer needs to be verified using molecular techniques.
Journal ArticleDOI
The cancer-associated microprotein CASIMO1 controls cell proliferation and interacts with squalene epoxidase modulating lipid droplet formation
Maria Polycarpou-Schwarz,Maria Polycarpou-Schwarz,Matthias Groß,Matthias Groß,Pieter Mestdagh,Johanna Schott,Stefanie Grund,Catherina Hildenbrand,Joachim Rom,Sebastian Aulmann,Hans-Peter Sinn,Jo Vandesompele,Sven Diederichs +12 more
TL;DR: Findings establish CASIMO1 as the first functional microprotein that plays a role in carcinogenesis and is implicated in the cell lipid homeostasis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome-wide methylation screen in low-grade breast cancer identifies novel epigenetically altered genes as potential biomarkers for tumor diagnosis
Marta Faryna,Carolin Konermann,Sebastian Aulmann,Justo Lorenzo Bermejo,Markus Brugger,Sven Diederichs,Joachim Rom,Dieter Weichenhan,Rainer Claus,Michael Rehli,Peter Schirmacher,Hans-Peter Sinn,Christoph Plass,Clarissa Gerhäuser +13 more
TL;DR: Early methylation changes are frequent in the low‐grade pathway of breast cancer and may be useful in the development of differential diagnostic and possibly also prognostic markers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic significance of tumour necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) receptor expression in patients with breast cancer
Tom M. Ganten,Jaromir Sykora,Ronald Koschny,Emanuela M Batke,Sebastian Aulmann,Ulrich Mansmann,Wolfgang Stremmel,Hans-Peter Sinn,Henning Walczak,Henning Walczak +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the expression patterns of surface-bound TRAIL receptors and their prognostic clinical value were determined for 311 patients with breast cancer by immunohistochemistry, showing that TRAIL-R1 was more strongly expressed in better differentiated tumours, and correlated positively with surrogate markers of a better prognosis but negatively with the expression of Her2/neu and the proliferation marker Ki67.
