Bariatric Surgery in Obese Patients with Type 1 Diabetes: Effects on Weight Loss and Metabolic Control.
P Faucher,Christine Poitou,Christine Poitou,Claire Carette,Sophie Tezenas du Montcel,Sophie Tezenas du Montcel,Charles Barsamian,Eliabelle Touati,Jean-Luc Bouillot,Adriana Torcivia,Sébastien Czernichow,Jean-Michel Oppert,Cécile Ciangura +12 more
TL;DR: Type 1 diabetes patients benefit from bariatric surgery in terms of weight loss and glycemic control, and close monitoring of insulin therapy appears warranted to prevent minor hypoglycemia in the first months post-surgery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ageing, retirement and changes in vegetable consumption in France: findings from the prospective GAZEL cohort.
TL;DR: It was found that, in this cohort, vegetable consumption increased with ageing, and retirement had an indirect effect on vegetable consumption mediated by changes in the place of lunch.
Journal ArticleDOI
Determinants of blood pressure treatment and control in obese people: evidence from the general population.
Sébastien Czernichow,Katia Castetbon,Benoît Salanave,Michel Vernay,Yaya Barry,George David Batty,Serge Hercberg,Jacques Blacher +7 more
TL;DR: Although hypertension was much more prevalent in the obese compared with overweight and lean/normal-weight individuals, uncontrolled hypertension was also more frequent despite a higher rate of treatment, and may probably be the consequence of obesity and its complex pathophysiology, more than to an inadequate therapeutic decision by clinicians.
Journal ArticleDOI
SCORE should be preferred to Framingham to predict cardiovascular death in French population.
Ivanny Marchant,Jean-Pierre Boissel,Behrouz Kassai,Theodora Bejan,Jacques Massol,Chrystelle Vidal,Emmanuel Amsallem,Florence Naudin,Pilar Galan,Sébastien Czernichow,Patrice Nony,François Gueyffier +11 more
TL;DR: A virtual population based on data representative of the French population and compared the performances of the two most popular risk equations to predict cardiovascular death: Framingham and SCORE revealed an exaggerated representation of coronary among cardiovascular death predicted by Framingham.
Journal ArticleDOI
Metabolically Healthy Overweight and Obesity Is Associated with Higher Adherence to a Traditional Dietary Pattern: A Cross-Sectional Study among Adults in Lebanon
Joane Matta,Lara Nasreddine,Lamis Jomaa,Nahla Hwalla,Abla M. Sibai,Sébastien Czernichow,Sébastien Czernichow,Leila Itani,Farah Naja +8 more
TL;DR: Findings suggest that the Traditional-Lebanese pattern may exert a protective effect in this subgroup of overweight and obese adults and follow-up studies are needed to confirm those findings.
