Journal ArticleDOI
Sedimentology of Modern, Inclined Heterolithic Stratification (IHS) in the Macrotidal Han River Delta, Korea
TL;DR: In this article, an occurrence of inclined heterolithic stratification (IHS) is described from a tidal point bar in a 40m-deep distributary of the macrotidal (tidal range 3.6-7.8 m), Han River delta, Korea.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mapping gas hydrate and fluid flow indicators and modeling gas hydrate stability zone (GHSZ) in the Ulleung Basin, East (Japan) Sea: Potential linkage between the occurrence of mass failures and gas hydrate dissociation
Senay Horozal,Jang Jun Bahk,Roger Urgeles,Gil Young Kim,Deniz Cukur,Seong-Pil Kim,Gwang Hoon Lee,SangHoon Lee,Byong Jae Ryu,Jin Ho Kim +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors identified various features of slope failures on the margins, such as landslide scars, slide/slump bodies, glide planes and MTDs, from a regional multi-channel seismic dataset.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural characteristics of the Lake Van Basin, eastern Turkey, from high-resolution seismic reflection profiles and multibeam echosounder data: geologic and tectonic implications
Deniz Cukur,Sebastian Krastel,Yama Tomonaga,Yama Tomonaga,Hans-Ulrich Schmincke,Mari Sumita,Aysegül Feray Meydan,M. Namık Çağatay,Mustafa Toker,Seong-Pil Kim,Gee-Soo Kong,Senay Horozal +11 more
TL;DR: The structural evolution of Lake Van Basin, eastern Turkey, was reconstructed based on seismic reflection profiles through the sedimentary fill as well as from newly acquired multibeam echosounder data as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evidence of extensive carbonate mounds and sublacustrine channels in shallow waters of Lake Van, eastern Turkey, based on high-resolution chirp subbottom profiler and multibeam echosounder data
Deniz Cukur,Sebastian Krastel,M. Namık Çağatay,Emre Damcı,Aysegül Feray Meydan,Seong-Pil Kim +5 more
TL;DR: In Lake Van of eastern Turkey, the fourth largest soda lake in the world, high-resolution subbottom profiles and bathymetric data acquired in 2004 and 2012 revealed several hundreds of topographic mounds in shallow waters (<130 m) off the historical town of Adilcevaz in the northern lake sector as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Geophysical evidence and inferred triggering factors of submarine landslides on the western continental margin of the Ulleung Basin, East Sea
Deniz Cukur,Seong-Pil Kim,Gee-Soo Kong,Jang-Jun Bahk,Senay Horozal,In-Kwon Um,Gwang-Soo Lee,Tae Soo Chang,Hun-Jun Ha,David Völker,Jung-Ki Kim +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the styles and causes of landsliding along the western margin of the Ulleung Basin in the East Sea, based on multiple sparker, subbottom profiler, multibeam echosounder and sediment core datasets collected in 2015.
