Hepatocyte nuclear factor 1α and β control terminal differentiation and cell fate commitment in the gut epithelium
Anna D'Angelo,Olivier Bluteau,Miguel A. Garcia-Gonzalez,Lionel Gresh,Antonia Doyen,Serge Garbay,Sylvie Robine,Marco Pontoglio +7 more
TL;DR: This study identifies new direct target genes of the Hnf1 transcription factors and shows that they play crucial roles in both defining cell fate and controlling terminal functions in the gut epithelium.
Journal ArticleDOI
A genomic map of p53 binding sites identifies novel p53 targets involved in an apoptotic network.
TL;DR: A genome-wide map of p53 binding sites (p53BS) is generated and it is shown that the presence of nearby p53BS can identify new proapoptotic members of the Bcl2 family and that induction of this gene contributes to p53-mediated apoptosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stat3 Controls Tubulointerstitial Communication during CKD
Frank Bienaimé,Mordi Muorah,Lucie Yammine,Martine Burtin,Clément Nguyen,William Baron,Serge Garbay,Amandine Viau,Melanie Broueilh,Thomas Blanc,Dorien J.M. Peters,Valeria Poli,Dany Anglicheau,Dany Anglicheau,Gérard Friedlander,Marco Pontoglio,Morgan Gallazzini,Fabiola Terzi +17 more
TL;DR: A molecular link between tubular and interstitial cells during CKD progression is provided and Stat3 is identified as a central regulator of this link and a promising therapeutic target.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome-wide discovery of functional transcription factor binding sites by comparative genomics: The case of Stat3
Francesco Vallania,Davide Schiavone,Sarah Dewilde,Emanuela Pupo,Serge Garbay,Raffaele A. Calogero,Marco Pontoglio,Paolo Provero,Valeria Poli +8 more
TL;DR: This work has developed a computational method for the genome-wide identification of functional transcription factor binding sites based on positional weight matrices, comparative genomics, and gene expression profiling that appears to be a valid alternative to high-throughput experimental assays for the discovery of novel direct targets of transcription factors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human mutations affect the epigenetic/bookmarking function of HNF1B
Jonathan Lerner,Alessia Bagattin,Francisco Verdeguer,Munevver P. Makinistoglu,Serge Garbay,Tristan Felix,Laurence Heidet,Marco Pontoglio +7 more
TL;DR: It is shown that HNF1β bookmarking activity is impaired by naturally occurring mutations found in patients, and it is demonstrated that importin-β is involved in the maintenance of the mitotic retention of H NF1β, suggesting a functional link between the nuclear import system and theMitotic localization/translocation of bookmarking factors.
