Transcriptional control of adipose lipid handling by IRF4.
Jun Eguchi,Xun Wang,Songtao Yu,Erin E. Kershaw,Patricia C. Chiu,Joanne R. Dushay,Jennifer L. Estall,Ulf Klein,Eleftheria Maratos-Flier,Evan D. Rosen +9 more
TL;DR: It is shown that interferon regulatory factor 4 (IRF4) is a critical determinant of the transcriptional response to nutrient availability in adipocytes and the disposition of calories in adipose tissue, with consequences for systemic metabolic homeostasis.
Journal ArticleDOI
IRF4 Is a Key Thermogenic Transcriptional Partner of PGC-1α
Xingxing Kong,Alexander S. Banks,Tiemin Liu,Lawrence Kazak,Rajesh R. Rao,Paul Cohen,Xun Wang,Songtao Yu,James C. Lo,Yu-Hua Tseng,Aaron M. Cypess,Ruidan Xue,Sandra Kleiner,Sona Kang,Bruce M. Spiegelman,Evan D. Rosen,Evan D. Rosen +16 more
TL;DR: Interferon regulatory factor 4 is identified as a dominant transcriptional effector of thermogenesis and induced by cold and cAMP in adipocytes and is sufficient to promote increased thermogenic gene expression, energy expenditure, and cold tolerance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of Cre recombinase models for the study of adipose tissue
Elise Jeffery,Ryan Berry,Christopher D. Church,Songtao Yu,Brett A. Shook,Valerie Horsley,Evan D. Rosen,Matthew S. Rodeheffer +7 more
TL;DR: Cre recombinase activity in multiple cell populations of the major adipose tissue depots of these and other Cre lines is characterized using the membrane-Tomato/membrane-GFP (mT/mG) dual fluorescent reporter to show that the PdgfRα-Cre line is preferable for studies targeting adipocyte precursor cells in vivo.
Journal ArticleDOI
The orphan nuclear receptor chicken ovalbumin upstream promoter-transcription factor II is a critical regulator of adipogenesis
TL;DR: The data demonstrate that COUP-TFII represents an endogenous suppressor of adipogenesis, linking antiadipogenic extracellular signals to the core transcriptional cascade.
Journal ArticleDOI
