Journal ArticleDOI
Stellar magnetism: empirical trends with age and rotation
Aline A. Vidotto,Aline A. Vidotto,Scott G. Gregory,Moira Jardine,Jean-François Donati,Pascal Petit,Julien Morin,Colin P. Folsom,Jerome Bouvier,Andrew Collier Cameron,G. A. J. Hussain,Stephen C. Marsden,Ian A. Waite,Rim Fares,Sandra V. Jeffers,J. D. do Nascimento +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, the observed large-scale surface magnetic fields of low-mass stars were reconstructed through Zeeman-Doppler imaging (ZDI), and the results indicated that small and large scale fields could share the same dynamo field generation processes.
Journal ArticleDOI
A high-resolution spectropolarimetric survey of Herbig Ae/Be stars – I. Observations and measurements
Evelyne Alecian,Evelyne Alecian,Gregg A. Wade,C. Catala,Jason Grunhut,Jason Grunhut,John D. Landstreet,John D. Landstreet,Stefano Bagnulo,Torsten Böhm,Torsten Böhm,Colin P. Folsom,Stephen C. Marsden,Stephen C. Marsden,Ian A. Waite +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, the analysis of a large survey of Herbig Ae/Be stars in circular spectropolarimetry is described and reported, with the primary aim of searching for magnetic fields in these objects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dynamo processes and activity cycles of the active stars AB Doradus, LQ Hydrae and HR 1099
Jean-François Donati,A. Collier Cameron,M. Semel,G. A. J. Hussain,Pascal Petit,Brad D. Carter,Stephen C. Marsden,Matthew W. Mengel,A. López Ariste,S. V. Jeffers,David Rees +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the brightness and magnetic surface images of the young K0 dwarfs AB Doradus and LQ Hydrae were reconstructed from Zeeman-Doppler imaging spectropolarimetric observations collected at the Anglo-Australian Telescope during five observing campaigns (totalling 50 nights), from 1998 January to 2002 January.
Journal ArticleDOI
Weak magnetic fields in Ap/Bp stars : Evidence for a dipole field lower limit and a tentative interpretation of the magnetic dichotomy
Michel Aurière,Gregg A. Wade,J. Silvester,J. Silvester,François Lignières,Stefano Bagnulo,K. Bale,B. Dintrans,Jean-François Donati,C. P. Folsom,Michael Gruberbauer,A. Hui Bon Hoa,S. V. Jeffers,N. Johnson,John D. Landstreet,Agnès Lèbre,T. Lueftinger,Stephen C. Marsden,David Mouillet,S. Naseri,Frédéric Paletou,Pascal Petit,J. Power,F. Rincon,S. Strasser,N. Toque +25 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a sample of 28 well-known spectroscopically-identified magnetic Ap/Bp stars, with weak, poorly-determined or previously undetected magnetic fields, was used to explore the weak part of the magnetic field distribution of Ap/bp stars.
Journal ArticleDOI
The dependence of differential rotation on temperature and rotation
John R. Barnes,A. Collier Cameron,Jean-François Donati,David James,Stephen C. Marsden,Pascal Petit +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used Doppler imaging techniques to determine the dependence of starspot rotation rates on latitude in an homogeneous sample of young, rapidly-rotating solar analogues.
