Spillover systems in a telecoupled Anthropocene: typology, methods, and governance for global sustainability
Jianguo Liu,Yue Dou,Mateus Batistella,Mateus Batistella,Edward Challies,Edward Challies,Thomas Connor,Cecilie Friis,James D.A. Millington,Esther S. Parish,Chelsie L. Romulo,Ramon Felipe Bicudo da Silva,Heather A. Triezenberg,Hongbo Yang,Zhiqiang Zhao,Karl S. Zimmerer,Falk Huettmann,Michael L. Treglia,Zeenatul Basher,Min Gon Chung,Anna Herzberger,Andrea Lenschow,Altaaf Mechiche-Alami,Jens Newig,J. F. Roche,Jing Sun +25 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a typology of spillover systems based on six criteria: flows from and to sending and receiving systems, distances from sender and receiver, types of spill over effects, sizes of spill-over systems, roles of agents in spillover system, and the origin of spillovers are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impacts of irrigated agriculture on food-energy-water-CO2 nexus across metacoupled systems.
Zhenci Xu,Zhenci Xu,Xiuzhi Chen,Jianguo Liu,Yu Zhang,Yu Zhang,Sophia N. Chau,Nishan Bhattarai,Ye Wang,Yingjie Li,Thomas Connor,Yunkai Li +11 more
TL;DR: The need to understand impacts of agriculture on food–energy–water–CO2 nexus in other parts of the world to achieve global sustainability is suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ultraviolet Morphologies and Star-Formation Rates of CLASH Brightest Cluster Galaxies
Megan Donahue,Thomas Connor,Kevin Fogarty,Yuan Li,G. Mark Voit,Marc Postman,Anton M. Koekemoer,John Moustakas,Larry Bradley,Holland C. Ford +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors exploit the opportunity provided by rest-frame UV imaging of galaxy clusters in the CLASH (Cluster Lensing and Supernovae with Hubble) Multi-Cycle Treasury Project to reveal the diversity of UV morphologies in BCGs and to compare them with recent simulations of the cool, star-forming gas structures produced by precipitation-driven feedback.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of grain size and niche breadth on species distribution modeling
Thomas Connor,Vanessa Hull,Andrés Viña,Andrés Viña,Ashton Shortridge,Ying Tang,Jindong Zhang,Jindong Zhang,Fang Wang,Jianguo Liu +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate the effect of grain size and niche breadth on SDMs and find that larger grain sizes over predicting this value increased the accuracy of SDMs by up to a factor of 14.
Journal ArticleDOI
Revealing pathways from payments for ecosystem services to socioeconomic outcomes.
TL;DR: This study empirically demonstrate the framework’s operationalization and uncover the pathways that lead to unexpected negative effects of two important PES programs on participating households’ income.
