Journal ArticleDOI
Subunit rotation of vacuolar-type proton pumping ATPase: relative rotation of the G and C subunits.
Tomoyuki Hirata,Atsuko Iwamoto-Kihara,Ge-Hong Sun-Wada,Toshihide Okajima,Yoh Wada,Masamitsu Futai +5 more
TL;DR: This study genetically introduced a His tag and a biotin tag onto the c and G subunits, respectively, of Saccharomyces cerevisiae V-ATPase, and observed directly the continuous counter-clockwise rotation of an actin filament attached to the G subunit.
Journal ArticleDOI
Crystal structures of Lymnaea stagnalis AChBP in complex with neonicotinoid insecticides imidacloprid and clothianidin
Makoto Ihara,Toshihide Okajima,Atsuko Yamashita,Takuma Oda,Koichi Hirata,Hisashi Nishiwaki,Takako Morimoto,Miki Akamatsu,Yuji Ashikawa,Shun'ichi Kuroda,Ryosuke Mega,Seiki Kuramitsu,David B. Sattelle,Kazuhiko Matsuda +13 more
TL;DR: IMI showed higher binding affinity for Ls-AChBP than that of CTD, consistent with weaker CH–π interactions in the Ls, AChBP–CTD complex than in the MIMI–IMI complex and the lack of the nitro group-Gln55 hydrogen bond in CTD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure of a quinohemoprotein amine dehydrogenase with an uncommon redox cofactor and highly unusual crosslinking
Saumen Datta,Mori Y,Takagi K,Kawaguchi K,Zhi-wei Chen,Toshihide Okajima,Shun'ichi Kuroda,Tokuji Ikeda,Kenji Kano,Katsuyuki Tanizawa,F. S. Mathews +10 more
TL;DR: The crystal structure of the heterotrimeric quinohemoprotein amine dehydrogenase from Paracoccus denitrificans has been determined and the catalytic function of the enzyme as well as the biosynthesis of the unusual catalytic subunit is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of copper ion in bacterial copper amine oxidase: spectroscopic and crystallographic studies of metal-substituted enzymes.
S. Kishishita,Toshihide Okajima,M. Kim,Hiroshi Yamaguchi,Shun Hirota,Shinnichiro Suzuki,Shun'ichi Kuroda,Katsuyuki Tanizawa,Minae Mure +8 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that the native Cu(2+) ion has essential roles such as catalyzing the electron transfer between TPQ(amr) and dioxygen, in part by providing a binding site for 1e (-)- and 2e(-)-reduced dIOxygen species to be efficiently protonated and released and also preventing the back reaction between the product aldehyde and TPQ (amr).
Journal ArticleDOI
Axonal guidance protein FEZ1 associates with tubulin and kinesin motor protein to transport mitochondria in neurites of NGF-stimulated PC12 cells.
Toshitsugu Fujita,Andrés D. Maturana,Andrés D. Maturana,Junko Ikuta,Juri Hamada,Sébastien Wälchli,Tadaki Suzuki,Hirofumi Sawa,Marie W. Wooten,Toshihide Okajima,Kenji Tatematsu,Katsuyuki Tanizawa,Shun'ichi Kuroda +12 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the FEZ1/kinesin complex functions for the transport of mitochondria along microtubules toward the extending neurites in differentiating PC12 cells.
