Sequence variants affecting eosinophil numbers associate with asthma and myocardial infarction.

Daniel F. Gudbjartsson, +77 more
- 01 Mar 2009 -
TL;DR: A genome-wide association scan for sequence variants affecting eosinophil counts in blood of 9,392 Icelanders found that a nonsynonymous SNP at 12q24, in SH2B3, associated significantly with myocardial infarction in six different populations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Polymorphism of the eosinophil cationic protein-gene is related to the expression of allergic symptoms.

TL;DR: A polymorphism in the ECP (eosinophil cationic protein)‐gene at position 434 according to GenBank accession number NM 002935 would cause the change of the amino acid arginine at position 97 to threonine.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of in vivo administration of G-CSF on neutrophil and eosinophil adhesion

TL;DR: The effect in vivo of G‐ CSF on neutrophil and eosinophil adhesion was studied after subcutaneous administration to six healthy individuals of human recombinant glycosylated G‐CSF (lenograstim) (3 μg/kg) for 6 consecutive days.
Journal ArticleDOI

A (G->C) transversion in the 3' UTR of the human ECP (eosinophil cationic protein) gene correlates to the cellular content of ECP.

TL;DR: The 562(G>C) polymorphism in the 3′‐end of the UTR of the ECP gene may determine the E CP content in human eosinophils, but unlike the 434(G>)C polymorphism, the 562 (G) polymorphisms is not related to allergy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Eosinophil associated genes in the inflammatory bowel disease 4 region: correlation to inflammatory bowel disease revealed.

TL;DR: The age of disease onset of Crohn's disease was linked to haplotypes of the EPX405, ECP434 and ECP562 genotypes, and the protein content of EPX was highest in the patients with the CC genotype of EPx405, and that of ECP was higher in the Patients with the GG genotype, as described by the manufacturer.
