A generic analytical model for micro-diaphragm pumps with active valves
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a model for micro-diaphragm pumps with active valves based on the peristaltic working principle, which can be applied to a variety of actuation principles, eg piezoelectric, pneumatic, thermo-pneumatic or pre-stressed shape memory actuation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reduced Postoperative Pancreatic Fistula Rate After Pancreatogastrostomy Versus Pancreaticojejunostomy
TL;DR: Surgeons should be aware of a higher rate of delayed gastric emptying and perform meticulous hemostasis to prevent intraluminal bleeding with pancreatogastrostomy, which is superior to pancreaticojejunostomy in terms of relevant postoperative pancreatic fistula.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dietary supplementation with n-3-fatty acids in patients with pancreatic cancer and cachexia: marine phospholipids versus fish oil - a randomized controlled double-blind trial
Kristin Werner,Daniela Küllenberg de Gaudry,Daniela Küllenberg de Gaudry,Lenka A. Taylor,Lenka A. Taylor,Tobias Keck,Clemens Unger,Ulrich T. Hopt,Ulrich Massing +8 more
TL;DR: Intervention with low dose n-3-FAs, either as FO or MPL supplementation, resulted in similar and promising weight and appetite stabilization in pancreatic cancer patients, and the need for further investigations of marine phospholipids for the improvement of QoL of cancer patients is suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI
Management of delayed visceral arterial bleeding after pancreatic head resection
TL;DR: It is concluded that delayed arterial bleeding from visceral arteries is a rare but life-threatening complication after pancreatic head resection and angiographic stenting with preservation of hepatic blood flow, if technically possible, represents the best treatment option.
Journal ArticleDOI
A high performance bidirectional micropump for a novel artificial sphincter system
TL;DR: In this article, a high performance silicon micropump was used for a medical implant based on a piezoelectric actuator, which can build up and maintain backpressures up to 60 kPa.
